The Youth Fund provides loans and business development services to youth enterprises.

Credit Officer

Reporting to: Credit Manager
 
Credit officer will be based at the Head quarters. 

He/she can be transferred to work in any of our Regional Offices depending on the need as at that time. 

He/she will work hand in hand with the Regional Coordinators, Assistant Regional Coordinators and Constituency Officers, to ensure individual and (or ) youth groups are able to access credit from the Fund, their businesses are well and are able to repay their Loans.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Receive potential clients, conduct initial assessment, assist clients in completion of applications and prepare loan analysis and recommendations
  • Oversee mobilization of youth groups, loan appraisal and disbursements of loans to individual youth and groups
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluation of loans given to youth groups and prepare monthly status report for each constituency
  • Carry out trainings to the youth
  • Update monthly basis repayments made by each group in assigned constituency from the bank statements of the collection accounts
  • Follow up on weak groups with the assistance of Constituency Officers and the District Youth Officers, provide required advisory and remedial services when required and prepare monthly status reports for each Constituency
  • Prepare payment schedules for each Constituency based on the field returns emanating from the Districts after vouching compliance by the Region and Committee with the vetting procedures
  • Responsible for system input and maintenance of loans, credit analysis, security documentation and maintenance, preparation of letters of offer , reports and maintenance of data in IFMIS
  • Answer queries from local leaders and other stakeholders on issues relating to the Constituency based loan products
Qualifications
  • A first degree in Business Related Field from a reputable university. Specialized training in credit or Micro Finance will be an added advantage
  • A masters degree in a business discipline will be an added advantage
  • Over 3 years experience in credit , preferably in a Microfinance Finance Institutions
  • Ability to manage all aspects of lending cycle for the Fund’s lending products
  • Possession of good analytical and reporting skills
  • Willingness to travel to remote rural areas, passion and eagerness to assist and help empower the most marginalized youth across the constituencies.
  • Possess good interpersonal skills to interact with key stakeholders including senior government officials
  • Possess good leadership skills, with ability to manage others
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines is mandatory
  • Exposure to computerized financial systems and experience in public sector accounting and
  • Honesty, integrity and creativity are a must.

The driver will be responsible for facilitation of movement of the organization’s officers within the country.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate an assigned vehicle in a safe and cautious manner
  • Keep the assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside
  • Coordinate the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance with management and staff
  • Check on the expiry of road licenses, insurance certificates and inspection stickers
  • Maintain accurate, up to date records on trip sheets, customer transportation forms vehicle condition reports and other records that are required from management
  • Service as a positive role model while providing transportation service
Qualifications /Competencies
  • Must have undergone a suitability test from the Ministry of public works
  • Be holder of K.C.S.E grade D and above. Diplomas will be an added advantage.
  • Possess a clean driving license class B, C and E & at least 3 years driving experience.
  • First aid /motor vehicle mechanics / Defensive driving certificates will be added advantage
  • Possess good communication skills (both written & Spoken) and be a team player
  • Knowledge of roads in Nairobi & other parts of the country is essential

Strategic Planner
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
Duties and responsibilities will entail: -
  • Preparing annual plans for the Board and WSPs;
  • Collecting, collating and analyzing statistical data on the planned programmes; implementing the Board’s plans and programmes;
  • Aligning WSPs and donor programmes to the overall Board mandate;
  • Preparing and tracking the implementation of Strategic Plan;
  • Preparing and tracking the performance contract;
  • Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the Board’s plans and projects;
  • Preparing quarterly and annual reports.
Requirements for Appointment
 
For appointment to this grade a candidate must have:-
  • Served in the grade of Planner II or in a relevant and comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: - Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Public Administration, social sciences or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Certificate in Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  • Proficiency in MS office; and
  • Should have atleast two (2) years experience in Government Performances Contracting System.

Internal Auditor

Duties and responsibilities will entail:-
  • Verifying utilization of Board’s resources;
  • Carrying out audit checks to verify payments; ensuring validity and accuracy of payments and purchases;
  • Implementing financial and resource use policies and regulations;
  • Developing internal audit control systems;
  • Undertaking audit investigations as may be required;
  • Preparing audit plans and reports; and following up on implementation of recommendations.
Requirements for Appointment
 
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-
  • Served in the grade of Internal Auditor II or in a relevant and comparable position for a minimum period of three (3) years;
  • Bachelors degree in any of the following disciplines: - Commerce (Accounting/Finance), Business Administration or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

Request for Research Proposal for Provision of Consultancy Services on Cohesion Index in Kenya
 
National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) was established to promote equality of opportunity, good relations, harmony and peaceful coexistence between persons of different ethnic and racial backgrounds in Kenya. 

As part of the efforts aimed at achieving this mandate, NCIC seeks to hire a consultant to develop a Social Cohesion Index.

Such an index will help refocus the Commission’s work on the indicators that are severely affected by the ethnic disharmony in the country. 

Among other requirements, the consultant will;
 
First propose a formulae for calculating the cohesion index specific to the Kenyan context; clearly state the specific drivers of each of the indicators and how they affects social cohesion and provide case examples where such an index has successfully been used to track social cohesion.
 
Secondly, the consultant will develop a national report on the status of social cohesion in the country and propose recommendations on the way forward. 

The consultancy will therefore focus on building the state of cohesion among Kenyans.
 
The consultancy will be undertaken by a reputable firm with a competent team of researchers. 

The Lead Consultant should have;
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (a doctoral degree will be an added advantage)
  • Publications in a relevant field and over ten years experience in conducting research with teams of researchers.
  • Good knowledge of Kenyan history.
  • Background knowledge of indexing of social issues particularly social cohesion, analytical, statistical, planning, good oral and report writing skills. S/he is required to explain the methodological approaches to be used in gathering, analyzing, presenting data, the time and human resources needed.
The consultancy will be conducted for a period of 40 working days spread over three months.
