Vacancy for Clerk of Works
 
The Government of Kenya through the Kenya Slum Upgrading Programme (KENSUP) is undertaking the implementation of its Multi-Million Shilling Slum Upgrading Project located in Kibera within Nairobi. 

The project will run for approximately three (3) years. 

The Ministry of Housing intends to recruit a suitable Kenya citizen as Clerk of Works for this slum upgrading project. 

Applications for this position are therefore invited from qualified and interested candidates who satisfy the following:
 
Work Experience:
  • At least five (5) years work experience in construction management involving supervision of builder’s, electrical, mechanical ,external and civil works;
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, civil and services drawings;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to prepare daily/weekly site reports;
  • Knowledge and experience in supervision of housing and slum upgrading projects will be an added advantage.
Qualifications:
  • A Higher National Diploma in Architecture or Construction Engineering or equivalent;
  • Be conversant with ARCHICAD and/or AutoCAD;
  • Good command of the English and Kiswahili languages;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
Responsibilities and Reporting Arrangements:
 
The selected candidate will supervise construction of preliminaries, builder’s, electrical, mechanical, external and civil works; and ensure adherence by the contractor to the contract designs and specifications on behalf of the Client Ministry. 

The Clerk of Works will report directly to the Lead Consultant and indirectly to the Project Manager.
