Tetra
Tech is recruiting for the following positions on the USAID-financed East
Africa Regional PREPARED Project, all of which will be based in Kisumu.

PREPARED
is a five-year, multi-organization, comprehensive program aimed at
mainstreaming integrated, multi-sectoral, evidencebased, climate-resilient
development planning and program implementation into the EAC and its Partner
States’ development agendas.
The
overall goal of PREPARED is to strengthen the resiliency and sustainability of
East African economies, transboundary freshwater ecosystems, and communities,
targeting three key development challenges that are likewise high priority
areas.
The
first two are biodiversity conservation and sustainable access to water,
sanitation and hygiene (WASH).
The
third development challenge is climate change, which is not a sector in and of
itself, but rather a set of environmental stressors that impact economic and
social development and potentially exacerbate existing problems within
the Biodiversity Conservation and WASH sectors.
Kisumu Operations Manager
1
Post
Operations Manager - Kisumu will have the primary responsibility to ensure the quality and timeliness of project administration and management in the PREPARED Kisumu Office.
This
will include, but will not be limited to: office administration and management,
human resources management, financial management, safety.
Minimum
required experience:
- 10
years of professional experience
- Prior
experience managing project or private sector offices/programs
- Prior
Human Resources Management (HRM) experience, including the recruitment,
hiring, and supervision of staff.
- Prior
financial management experience, including experience with QuickBooks.
Wash Specialist
1
Post
The WASH Specialist will guide the WASH Task Force and forge diverse partnerships to strengthen inter-institutional coordination between PREPARED, LVWATSAN, local government units, and service providers for increased access to WASH services in the Lake Victoria Basin.
Minimum
required experience:
- Minimum
of 10 years or more work experience of practical experience in WASH.
- Previous
experience working in East Africa strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated
success in implementing programs aimed at increasing access to water and
sanitation services, and/or small-scale waste water treatment.
- Demonstrated
knowledge of the latest developments in advancing best practices in
sustainable and climate-ready water and sanitation services from source to
tap.
- A
minimum of a Master‘s degree in a relevant discipline or a Bachelor‘s
degree in a relevant field with an additional 7 years‘ experience to the
required minimums above in areas such as Engineering, Environmental
Science, Public Health, Urban and Regional Planning, Development Studies,
and/or Natural Resource Management.
Institutional Specialist

Post
The
Institutional Specialist will: provide day-to-day institutional coordination
support between the PREPARED program, the LVBC, National Focal Points in
partner states, and other key institutional counterparts and stakeholders in
the Lake Victoria Basin; support the Chief of Party, Biodiversity Conservation
Technical Advisor, and WASH Technical Advisor in the formation and operation of
an IWRM PMU and Biodiversity and WASH Task Forces through regular engagement
and communication with key Basin-level stakeholders; and, identify, engage, and
build relationships with the key stakeholders and programs in the Mara and
Kagera sub-basins. serve in a coordination and facilitation role in
Kisumu for the first two years of the program.
Minimum
required experience is as follows:
- 15
years of professional experience, including experience interacting at
high-levels with government.
- Experience
working with the EAC and the LVBC on transboundary programs.
- Natural
resources and/or water resources governance experience.
- Demonstrated
experience improving local government services.
- Strong
knowledge and experience with the private-sector.
Communications Specialist

Post
The
Communications Specialist will work to improve the development and diffusion of
targeted information that supports evidence based decision making and increased
awareness of climate change adaptation, biodiversity conservation, and WASH at
all levels in the EAC, member states, etc.
Minimum
required experience is as follows:
- 8
years of experience
- Superior
written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated
experience developing print (hardcopy and electronic) communication
messages.
- Expertise
in the development and implementation of stakeholder outreach programs.
- Ability
to draft and publish press releases, organize media events, and publicize
project successes.
