and conserve wildlife in Kenya.

Service seeks to recruit dynamic, innovative and experienced individuals to
fill the following positions at the Headquarters and Training Institute in
Naivasha.
1. Risk Manager
JG

Reporting
to the Head Internal Audit and Risk, the overall responsibility will be to
develop and maintain a risk management strategy for the Service.
Duties
and Responsibilities
- Develop
and implement systems, policies and procedures for identification,
collection and analysis of risk related information.
- Develop
and maintain a risk management strategy for the Service.
- Evaluate
adequacy and effectiveness of controls and methodology established by
management to ensure that identified risks are appropriately mitigated at
both strategic and operational level.
- Participate
in the formulation and review of risk management and control activities
for the Service to ensure they meet the set objectives and are worthwhile
investments.
- Understand
the environmental risk management systems and controls in conservation and
put in place controls to monitor the full implementation of these systems
with a focus on risk aggregation.
- Develop
a model for assessing risk and templates to be used by technical staff to
assess the level of risk.
- Review
new and on-going management plans to ensure that they are carried out only
after a comprehensive risk assessment is done.
- Prepare
reports for the Board Audit and Risk Committee and Senior Management in
respect of ecological risk.
Job
Requirements
- Bachelor’s
degree in Environmental Economics or its equivalent from a recognized
institution.
- At
least three (3) years experience in ecological risk management at
management level with a reputable organization.
- Certification
in risk management will be an added advantage.
- Good
understanding of key drivers that influence and determine strategic
decisions
- Self
motivated with ability to meet tight deadlines.
- A
team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a
positive attitude towards work.
- Good

2. Monitoring & Evaluation Manager

Reporting
to the Deputy Director Strategy & Change, the overall responsibility will
be to develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation system for the Service.
Duties
and Responsibilities
- Leading
in the design and implementation of a Monitoring and Evaluation System in
close working relationship with the other departments
- Developing
and implementing efficient data collection systems for assessment of
progress
- Undertaking
data analysis and providing regularly updated reports on the
implementation status against the organizational goals and objectives
(e.g. quarterly, annual, management, board reports)
- Developing
and implementing a central M&E data management system (including identification,
implementation and oversight of necessary IT support/tools)
- Support
effective engagement of staff in M&E by providing technical support in
developing and monitoring progress towards programmatic indicators
- Developing
the framework for evaluation of projects/programs/ activities and ensuring
that they are aligned to the organizations strategic goals
- Ensuring
good internal communication of the progress and impact of Service’s
M&E system
- Providing
technical input into other Service programs where M&E expertise is of
relevance.
Job
Requirements
- Bachelors
degree from a recognized institution
- Five
(5) years direct experience in designing and/or implementing
organizational level systems for M&E and/or adaptive management
learning
- Direct
experience of applying M&E and/or organizational learning to address
sustainability issues (e.g. environment, social development, good
governance, economic resilience)
- Experience
in designing and/or implementing data collection and data management
systems
- Experience
in engaging and supporting others to contribute to M&E work
- Experience
in data analysis, evaluation and program cycle management
- Experience
in translating data into accessible reports for diverse audiences
- Knowledge

3. Physical Planner

Reporting
to the Head Lands Management, the overall responsibility will be to initiate
and supervise preparation of Part Development Plans of all KWS-managed
properties and other land reserved for wildlife conservation as may be required;
to liaise with government departments, county governments and communities
during preparation of regional physical plans; and to prepare site plans for
all physical developments by KWS.
Duties
and Responsibilities
- Initiate
preparation of Part Development Plans for unplanned lands.
- Follow
up of PDP’s and liaison with relevant institutions to ensure approval.
- Liaison
with Government Departments, County governments and communities on matters
relating to planning.
- Representation
of KWS interests during the preparation of regional Plans.
- Site
Planning for KWS properties.
- Development
of Policy on Physical Planning for KWS facilities.
- Preparation
of annual work plans.

4. Lands Liaison Officer

Reporting
to the Senior Lands Officer, the overall responsibility will be to pursue
matters relating to KWS lands at the Ministry of Lands and other government
institutions.
Duties
and Responsibilities
- Conduct
due diligence on land proposed for purchase, lease or easement.
- Follow
up approval process for Part Development Plans and issuance of Letters of
Allotment.
- Follow
up on approval of Deed Plans.
- Follow
up on preparation of title documents for public land reserved for wildlife
conservation.
- Liaison
on matters relating to land reserved for wildlife conservation with the
Ministry of Lands and other government departments.
