Impact Research and Development Organization is a registered Kenyan Non-Governmental Organization with a main office in Kisumu and regional offices in Bondo, Nyando, Rongo, Migori, Nyatike, Homa Bay, Suba and Pokot North. Offices in other parts of the country will open up from October 2012.

Its principal mandate is to design, implement and evaluate HIV/AIDS research and intervention programs that improve the health status of individuals and local communities.

We are looking for qualified and experienced personnel to fill in the following Kenyan Jobs positions

Project Coordinators

To oversee the implementation of HIV/AIDS prevention related activities within designated districts in Nyanza Province.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Social Sciences or related field. Masters degree in Public Health or Project Management an added advantage.
  • Good understanding of public health issues particularly HIV/AIDS.
  • 3 years’ experience coordinating large HIV/AIDS prevention programs especially among the in and out of school youth an added advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proof of professional writing is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
  • Qualified females are highly encouraged to apply.
Assistant Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Provide technical support in the planning, designing and implementation of a M&E system that will enable the
organization track accomplishment of activities and their impact on HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields is required.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in Monitoring and Evaluation in a busy organization.
  • Good writing and analytical skills. Proof of writing is required.
  • Training in and experience with quantitative data analysis software specifically SPSS; Knowledge of Ms Access, SPSS, SAS, STATA or EPI INFO and qualitative data analysis software is a must.
  • Ability to multi-task and attention to details; and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Good understanding of public health issues particularly HIV/AIDS.
Clinical Officers

Provide Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) services, screen and treat STIs, provide care and treatment to HIV positive youth.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery.
  • Must have at least one year’s experience in a busy health facility.
  • Should have training and practical experience in Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision.
  • Knowledge on HIV/AIDS care and treatment is an added advantage.
  • Ability to diagnose and treat Sexually Transmitted Infections.
  • Must be pleasant, have good communication and leadership skills; and willing to work under pressure.
  • Pokot language speakers are highly encouraged to apply.
Nursing Officers

Assist in surgeries, screen and treat STIs, provide VCT/PITC, provide care and care to HIV positive youth.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Diploma in Nursing.
  • Must have at least one year’s experience in a busy health facility.
  • Should have training and practical experience in Male Circumcision.
  • Knowledge on HIV/AIDS care and treatment added advantage.
  • Ability to diagnose and treat Sexually Transmitted Infections.
  • Training and experience in VCT and PITC
  • Must be pleasant, have good communication skills and willing to work under pressure.
  • Pokot language speakers are highly encouraged to apply.
HTC/VMMC Counselors

Provide HIV Testing and Counseling, Provider-Initiated Testing and Counseling and Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision counseling services.

Minimum Requirements
  • Must have VCT training from NASCOP accredited institutions.
  • Must have PITC training from a recognized institution.
  • Must have training and practical experience on Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision.
  • Over 1 year’s experience in a similar position in a busy health set-up.
  • Pokot language speakers are highly encouraged to apply.
Field Coordinator (Injecting Drug Users)

Coordinate intervention activities specifically targeting Injecting

Drug Users (IDUs) in Nyanza Province.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Social Sciences or health related field.
  • Certificate training on Drugs and Substance Abuse from a recognized institution.
  • Must have 3 years’ experience in HIV prevention among Injecting Drug Users
  • Experience in addiction related (medical) care and IDU contact.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, proven supervisory skills,
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, report writing and presentation skills.
Accountants

Manage funds for the program, prepare bank reconciliations.

Handle financial expenditure and report on the same, and prepare budgets etc.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Commerce - Accounting or Finance Option.
  • Must be a Certified Public Accountant.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in an NGO setting.
  • Good knowledge of Accounting software and Microsoft Office Packages.
  • Experience with preparing budgets for proposals is an added advantage.
ERP Administrator
  • Communicate regularly with technical, applications and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security; 
  • Configure, monitor, maintain and backup of the ERP system; 
  • Ensure maximum availability of systems; 
  • Prepare ad-hoc and repeat reports requested by users; 
  • Commission and install new applications and 
  • customize existing applications in order to make them fit for purpose.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Technology or Computer Science
  • 3 years relevant experience in a highly active national or international NGO
  • Certified Oracle administrator or Microsoft Certified System Developer (MCSD) or
  • Microsoft ERP Administrator certification Microsoft Dynamics Certification

National Family Strengthening Programme (FSP) Manager
 
The National FSP Manager main tasks include but not limited to;-
  • Overall coordination and management of the SOS Family Strengthening Programs in Kenya and assets therein.
  • Planning and budgeting for project activities.
  • Project proposal writing and sourcing of donor funding.
  • Coordinating and ensuring compliance with donors and line Ministry guidelines.
  • Coordinating the administration and operations of the FSP and related facilities.
  • Providing necessary support to the staff, the community representatives and donors.
Job specifications
  • A degree in Social Sciences. Master’s Degree shall be an added advantage.

Program Officer – Advocacy
 
Main tasks for a person holding this position include but not limited to:
  • To design and deliver the organization’s core advocacy messages to Kenya’s decision and opinion makers
  • To monitor current debates in Kenya, United Nations and other international organizations forums on child rights and development, and identify opportunities to shape these policies
  • To develop and maintain a national legal and political analysis
  • To build and maintain contacts with relevant NGO networks working on child rights and protection to ensure the inclusion of the organization’s key messages into policy documents.
  • To build and maintain contacts with relevant media personnel and houses to increase the organizations profile in the media and draw attention to child rights violations, and practical proposals to address them
  • Develop, implement and evaluate different kinds of advocacy work
  • Regularly conduct internal and external analysis on the situation of children’s rights in the country

  • A degree in social sciences or equivalent

  • Manage the credit appraisal process and participate in the approval within the delegated limits

  • Adhere to Coop Bank service standards and deliver world-class customer service to internal and external customers
  • Analysis of the various applications and constituting the lending committee.
  • Follow up with the lawyers in term of registration and charging
  • Ensure the Mortgage Loan application process is adhered to and all the requisite documents are attached
  • Be aware of the Credit Policy and do a ‘diligence’ check, vet the applications and forward/submit only those that merit consideration
  • Ensuring all lending covenants are incorporated in the respective facility letters
  • Evaluating the quality of loans, assigning risk-ratings and ensuring compliance
Job specification:

The incumbent will be required to possess the following qualifications, attributes and skills:
  • Must have a university degree in a relevant field with CPA (K). AKIB/ACIB would be an added advantage
  • At least 6 years experience in general banking or in a financial institution;  4 of which are in a lending function
  • High data rationality, detail consciousness with high analytical and numerical skills

  • Excellent Computer skills
