Job title: Nutrition Program Field Coordinator
Job Location: Garissa

Place in the organisation: Directly under the Project Field Coordinator
The Nutrition Program Field Coordinator is responsible for designing, overseeing and coordinating the nutrition programs in adherence with Magna’s and national protocols / guidelines, as well as liaising with various external partners.
Main responsibility: Designing, overseeing and coordinating the nutrition programs in adherence with Magna’s and national protocols/guidelines, as well as liaising with various external partners.
Responsible for medical diagnosis and treatment of the patients presenting medical complications. To insure the correct application of the treatment protocols.
Description of context: Magna Children at Risk is international humanitarian organization whose objective is to provide medical aid to populations in crisis.
The organization Magna Children at Risk organises humanitarian and developmental projects to help people in need, whether through poverty, disease, war, or ecological disaster and regardless of ethnicity, religion or nationality.
Magna is independent of all states and institutions, as well as of all political, economic or religious influences. Magna ran projects in 6 countries using over 300 international and national staff.
Objective of the function:
Clinical Officer will be primarily responsible for direct patient care at, either in IPD (SC) or OPD (OTP and SFC), treatment and follow-up of patients and/or a population in accordance with prescriptions, Magna and national protocols, respect of universal hygiene standards and context.
Ensure good practices among the medical/nursing team.
Duties will include both hospital and health post responsibilities.
Supervise: the medical nutritionist and nurse (for the medical issue)

Specific tasks
- Clinical examination of all patients with signs of complicated pathologies or presenting complication or refer, prescription and follow-up of the severe and complicated cases.
- Clinical rounds in the ward and health posts.
- To carry out the OTP and SFC clinics according to needs.
- To cover emergency room as practitioner responsible.
- Follow and supervision of the implemented protocols and systems.
- Ensure the correct documentation is filled and followed.
- Assist with care when there is need.
- Ensure proper handover among colleagues.
- To assist and participate in continual medical education facilitated by Magna staff.
- Adaptation and change of medical treatment
- Training of the medical personnel on basic diagnosis and treatment prescriptions (theoretical and on the spot training)
- To work as a member of the team, taking in consideration the non medical problems encountered by the patients (feeding and caring problems etc.)
- To develop relationship with medical counterparts working in relation with the TFC (hospital physicians, etc.)

- Clinical Officer degree/diploma/certificate recognized by National Authorities
Experience
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Clinical Officer and with coordinating of activities is preferable, it is preferred experience with NGO will be an added advantage.
- Excellent command of English both written and spoken English.
- Somali speaking an advantage
