TMEA is seeking to recruit a high calibre, results-oriented and self-driven experienced finance professional to join our Corporate Services team in the position of Finance Officer. 

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the job holder will be responsible for financial management, preparation of monthly financial reports and reconciliation of accounts.

The job holder is responsible for financial management, preparation of monthly financial reports for review and reconciliation of statements. 

Roles and responsibilities
  • Ensure that all accounting and reporting functions and processes are carried out with due professional care.
  • Review all invoices and ensure proper coding before posting into Navision.
  • Validate data entries related to payments and receipts for compliance and accuracy before approval and posting.
  • Ensure that reconciliation is prepared for all bank accounts by the 8th of every month and prompt resolution of outstanding or reconciling items.
  • Perform the necessary functions to ensure proper month end closure, including correction of errors and passing of journals.
  • Prepare receivable reports and budget comparison reports for review by the Finance Manager.
  • Conduct petty cash counts on a regular basis.
  • Monitor receivable and vendor account balances to ensure that they reflect correct balances.
  • Assist in the review and posting of budgets into Navision.
  • Participate in the preparation of audit working papers for bother internal and external audits when they arise.
  • Use TMEA’s monitoring, evaluation and learning systems and processes.
  • Perform any other assignment that may be given by the line manager.
Academic and professional qualifications
  • Relevant undergraduate degree preferably a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) or equivalent accounting qualification.
Work experience
  • At least 5 years relevant work experience. Additional skills
  • A person of integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of an accounting software, preferably Navision.
  • A self motivated individual with the ability to work independently and effectively under minimal supervision.
  • A good team player.
  • Excellent attention to detail with good organisation and problem solving skills. 
This is a contract ending 31 December 2014 with an attractive salary and benefit package. 

The Finance Officer will be based in Nairobi, Kenya with occasional travel within East Africa.
