One Acre Fund is an agricultural NGO in Kenya, Rwanda, and Burundi that is innovating a new way of helping farm families to achieve their full potential. 

One Acre invests in farmers to generate a permanent gain in farm income. 

We provide farmers with a "market bundle" that includes education, finance, seed and fertilizer, and market access. 

Our program is proven impactful – every year, we weigh thousands of harvests and measure more than 100% average gain in farm income per acre.  

We are growing quickly. In five years, we have grown to serve 70,000 farm families with more than 500 full-time field staff.

Job Description

One Acre Fund is a rapidly growing organization; increasing the number of sublocations and districts we work in each year.  

We are seeking individuals to take leadership positions in the organization as district leadership.  Every district serves between 2,000 and 19,000 farmers each season.   

The position will begin with an extensive 2-4 month period of training on agricultural, management and necessary skills to succeed in the organization. 

The training period will include extensive shadowing; training classes and acting in the various field staff roles to understand the roles of the staff they will manage.  

One Acre Fund is looking for experienced, talented candidates who are committed to making a difference in farmers’ lives.

Primary Duties of a Field Manger
Assist in Management of Staff:  Managers will assist in the training and the development of staff.  

• Manage 3-6 Field Officers in the district
• Conduct weekly meetings and trainings with field staff
• Conduct field visits focused on monitoring of field activities and Field Officer mentorship
• Assist other district leaders with planning of all activities, including field operations, staff development, logistics, recruiting, etc.

Assists in Metrics Management – managers work with other district leaders in the management of district key performance indicators.

• Analyze metrics to identify district problems and propose solutions

Qualifications
 

We are seeking exceptional professionals with minimum of three years of work experience, and a demonstrated long-term passion for sustainable agricultural development in sub-Saharan Africa.   

We are looking for extraordinary candidates that are proactive; please only apply if you fit these criteria:

• Strong work experiences. Examples include a demanding professional work experience in business or NGO’s, or successful entrepreneurial experience (e.g. starting a field program, leading a conference, or starting a business)
• Leadership experience at work, or outside of work
• Diploma or university degree in management, agronomy, or another relevant field
• Strong Ethical and Positive Attitude
• Demonstrates high quality work with a strong attention to detail
• Communicates clearly and effectively
• Experience in training or mentorship or staff
• A willingness to commit to living in Kisii, Homa Bay, Migori, or elsewhere in Nyanza Province for a long term position
• Language: Fluent in Swahili and English Required. Knowledge of the local dialect will be an added advantage.

Preferred Start Date: Sept  2012
