Job Title: Project Web Developer

Project: Kenya Health Workforce Project

The Web Developer for the Kenya Health Workforce project will be responsible for:
  • Modification and improvement on the existing health professional websites, this may include training of users
  • Development of a suite of web applications for the health professionals’ databases on joomla & MYSQL
  • Link web application to other health professional systems. Use of a web service may be employed.
Job Qualifications:
  • The candidate must have a degree in Information systems preferably minimum BSC in computer science from a recognized University.
  • Must have knowledge and experience in designing and building web applications. Use of open source technologies such as Apache, MySQL, PHP would be helpful, but is not required.
  • Must have working knowledge of web scripting and design principles - CSS, XHTML, JavaScript/Java/AJAX.
  • Some experience with module/theme development with a CMS like Joomla, Drupal or Wordpress
  • Proficiency in at least one structured programming language such as Java, C# or VB
  • Must have clear understanding of database management systems such as MSQL server

  • Good interpersonal relationship and communication skills
  • Good analytical and report writing skills
  • Must be proactive and innovative keeping abreast with technological advancements
  • Must have ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be a team player, flexible and professional who is customer focused

NIRAS Finland Oy, a private Finnish consulting company, has established an office in Busia town as part of its contract to implement the Finnish Government’s contribution to the Programme for Agriculture and Livelihoods in Western Communities (PALWECO).

In this context, NIRAS Finland Oy is seeking to fill the position of Accountant

The Accountant will be responsible to the Financial Management and Procurement Specialist and carry out all tasks concerning programme accounting, especially:
  • prepare payment vouchers, cheques, receipts of payments, etc.;
  • keep the cash box in custody, keep a cash book (Microsoft Excel based), and prepare monthly cash reconciliations;
  • check all accounting vouchers and prepare them for approval;
  • enter all vouchers into the accounting system (Microsoft Access based);
  • keep the cheque book in custody, keep a bank book for the bank account, and prepare monthly account reconciliations;
  • keep all documents related to programme accounting in custody;
  • maintain all documents related to employment contracts and statutory deductions;
  • prepare monthly salary payments for all local employees, pay the salaries, deduct and deliver all statutory deductions to the relevant authorities;
  • maintain internal control of the PSU office and store, including maintenance of records and inventory.
Candidates should have the following qualifications and experiences:
  • a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or a related field;
  • good computer skills, particular in spread sheet and data base applications;
  • at least five years working experience in a similar position,
  • be fluent in English.
