To qualify for this position the candidate should poses the following:-
  • Bachelor of Commerce Degree or an equivalent.
  • Minimum CPA Part II
  • Diploma in IT, with experience and excellent knowledge of Software/System development as well as proficiency in MS Access
  • 3 years of progressive work experience in a busy finance/accounting set up preferably with an NGO
  • Knowledge of Financial Administration Software – SAP will be an added advantage
  • Must be able to manage competing priorities

Overall Responsibility

The successful candidates will be responsible for providing consultations and quality clinical judgment to patients in Ambulatory and Emergency Medicine at the Medical Centre in Kakamega.

Requirements
  • MBBS from a recognized University
  • At least one- year working experience
  • Must be Registered/Licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board.
  • Competency in emergency procedures e.g. ACLS, ATLS etc will be an added advantage.

Dental Surgeon

Overall Responsibility

The success candidate will be expected to set up and competently manage dental services in the Medical Centre at Kakamege in accordance with our quality policy which emphasizes continuous improvement of service to meet and exceed customer expectation.

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from a recognized University
  • Registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board

Nurse

Overall Responsibility

Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (KRN/KRCHN) or above from an accredited School of Nursing.

  • Certificate in Theatre, Critical Care or Emergency Nursing will be an added advantage.

Overall Responsibilities

Requirements
  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from MTC or any other recognized institution.
  • Must be enrolled and licensed by the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
  • At least one year working experience in a busy pharmacy.

Laboratory Technologist

Overall Responsibilities

The successful candidate will prepare documentation, maintain sample processing records and ensure timely dispatch of results.

He/she will maintain relevant equipment in terms of calibration and alignment and will be expected to comply with relevant policies and procedures including but not limited to those related to safety and infection control at the Medical Center in Kakamega.

Requirements
  • Higher National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or above
  • Minimum three years working experience in a busy medical laboratory
  • Excellent knowledge of laboratory operations and procedures
  • Knowledge and experience in haematology, quality control and serology.
  • Ability to write and review SOP’s
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Knowledge and experience in ISO 15189 standard is desirable
  • Ability to work in other laboratory sections whenever he/she is required
  • Registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board with a current practice license is mandatory
Dental Assistant

Overall Responsibility

Reporting to the Dental Surgeon, the successful candidate will assist the dental surgeon in the provision of comprehensive dental services within the Medical Centre in line with the hospital’s mission.

Requirement
  • Diploma in Dental Assisting.
  • At least two years experience preferably in a busy dental practice
  • Self motivation and ability to work without supervision.

Security Officer

1 Position - Kisumu

Overall Responsibility

Reporting to the In-charge Facility Management and Safety Committee, the security officer will be responsible for ensuring security and safety of Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu clients, personnel and Hospital resources.

The Security Officer will lead security mainstreaming to promote a positive security culture throughout the organization.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and implementing security policies and procedures at the Hospital.

Requirements
  • KCSE ‘C’ grade or above
  • Basic security training from a recognized security firm and/or institution with experience in CCTV operations
  • Excellent skills in fire management and first aid
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in both English and Kiswahili
  • Good interpersonal relations, leadership and organizational skills.
  • Expertise in effective use of VHF Radios and security phonetic alphabets

The East African SusWatch (EA SusWatch) is a network of NGOs from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania spearheaded by Uganda Coalition for Sustainable Development (UCSD), Sustainable Environmental Development Watch (SusWatch Kenya), and Tanzania Coalition for Sustainable Development (TCSD).

National Coordinator

Based in Kisumu

The National Coordinator (NC) will be answerable to the National Steering / Executive Committee and will be responsible for supervising the Accounts Assistant (AA).

The major terms of reference for the NC include but not limited to:
  • Implementation of national activities as per the Project’s agreed work plans
  • Link the National level actors (including communities and citizen groups in the LVB) with the Regional Lead Agency and other actors
  • Preparation of Quarterly and Annual Reports to the Regional Secretariat and national Executive / Steering Committee & network members.
Competencies
  • A first degree in development related studies, sociology, political science, economics, environment, or related fields plus at least 5 years experience in an advocacy and lobby setting within the LVB.
  • A Master’s degree is an added advantage
  • Knowledge and previous working experience in livelihood, poverty reduction or (sustainable) development - oriented advocacy work within the lake Victoria basin or East Africa being an added advantage

Accounts Assistant

Working with the Regional Finance and Administration Officer and the National Coordinator on a day– to day basis, he/she will be responsible for the administrative functions of the NFP secretariat

The major terms of reference for the Accounts Assistant (AA) include:
  • Raising payment vouchers, making approved payments and ensuring that all expenses are adequately supported.
  • Provide bookkeeping and accounting services to the project.
  • Preparation of the national Chapter’s financial reports to be submitted to the Finance and Administration Manager at the EA SusWatch regional secretariat.
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual accountability reports to the regional office
Competencies
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or any other related field
  • At least three years’ proven working experience in administration/ human resource - related work, preferably with a similar NGO setting
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks computerized accounting software and proficiency in other computer skills is an added advantage
