Provide editorial and administrative support to the publishing department and marketing at Creative Edge Ltd.

Write and oversee the content flow of each publication and ensure content delivery is on time from the contributors to editor to design for production.

To do this, you must have good computer skills, strong organisational abilities and attention to details is critical.

Responsibilities
  • Setting up production plan, and monitoring progress from all departments, to ensure production is on schedule and achieved to deadline.
  • Update publication flatplan with any all agreed changes
  • Proof-reading all publications before going to press
  • Writing of fillers and advertorials
  • Collation of information on events across, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania
  • Obtaining royalty free images for the kids page
  • Compiling content for the book reviews
  • Sourcing of illustrations, word-search and crossword for the kids page
  • Writing articles and filing to the editor for editing
  • Raising LPO's for writer and contributors, including names, numbers and emails address
  • Ensuring contributors contracts are present
  • Managing the events calendar and ensuring it is up to date
  • Keeping Publications Project Manager and Editor informed of any problems or potential delays.
Qualifications
  • Journalism background or related degree with focus in digital and emerging media.
  • Team Player- ability to build rapport and support team members.
  • Demonstrated track record of success and a minimum of 3 years progressively.
  • Excellent written and communication skills. This position will need to coordinate and help produce key articles.
  • Demonstrate strong project management and planning skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously for seamless execution.
  • Possess strong time management and organizational skills to coordinate and track the details of multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring results are delivered on time.
  • Ability to analyze and communicate effectively and diplomatically in electronic, written, and oral formats.
  • Demonstrate proofreading skills, excellent grasp of grammar and style.

Chemonics International, a U.S. based international development consulting firm, seeks qualified professionals for the anticipated three-year USAID-funded African Institutions Innovation Mechanism (AIIM)-Assist project.

Based in Nairobi, the project will provide technical assistance to AIIM, which is a key component of the multi-year East Africa regional strategy of the United States Government’s Feed the Future Initiative.

More specifically, AIIM-Assist will mobilize a cadre of capacity building providers, technical experts and consultants to assist USAID/East Africa to create true partnerships with local organizations.

USAID will release an Annual Program Statement (APS) for regional organizations and firms to write proposals to participate in the regional Feed the Future strategy.

The AIIMS-Assist project will assist USAID/East Africa in the management and tracking of the AIIM APS, provide support to build the capacity of AIIM grantees, and provide technical support to USAID missions in Feed the Future focus countries and African regional partners outside of AIIM.
