Overall Purpose of the Job

To design, develop and deliver a range of programmes at Certificate, Diploma and Degree level for teaching at Inoorero University, in order to enable students to complete their studies successfully, and to determine, develop and carry out relevant independent research projects to extend knowledge in the appropriate subject area.

Responsibilities

Strategic Integration
  • Promote the Vision and Mission of the University and implement the University Strategic Plan.
  • Contribute to the development of research strategies
Teaching and Learning:
  • Design, develop and deliver a range of programmes of study (sometimes for entirely new courses) at various levels.
  • Review and update, where necessary, course content on regular basis.
  • Develop and apply innovative and appropriate teaching techniques including e-learning and to prepare materials that create interest, understanding and enthusiasm among students
  • Ensure that course design, content and delivery comply with quality standards and regulations of the department as well as Universities regulations and the Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy
  • Offer advisory interventions to students on their performance, employment market trends and career development
  • Engage in continuous professional development
  • Promote the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship and interaction of students with industry partners in learning and innovation.
Research:
  • Determine relevant research objectives and prepare research proposals
  • Identify sources of funding and oversee the process of securing funds
  • Carry out independent research towards acquiring higher academic qualifications
  • Write or contribute to publications or disseminate research findings using appropriate media
Communication:
  • Disseminate conceptual and complex ideas to a wide variety of audiences using appropriate media methods to promote understanding
Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications

Educational Qualifications:
  • PhD in relevant field or Masters Degree
Professional Qualifications:

Professional qualifications relevant to subject area

Working Experience:

PhD degree holder:
  • Publications in one’s area of specialization and professional qualification relevant to subject area will be an added advantage.
Masters Degree holder:
  • At least five years teaching experience at University level,
  • At least three publications in reputable journals or two University level books in one’s area of specialization

The Senior Procurement Specialist will act as a primary resource to ensure that all project and corporate purchases are made according to RTI/USAID/FAR rules and regulations as well as aligned with strategic sourcing initiatives where global agreements/contracts are available.

This position will be located in the RTI Regional Office, Nairobi Kenya.

Responsibilities:
·       Conduct training on a regular basis for regional office and project staff regarding subcontracts and procurement, local procurement policy, sourcing, contracting responsibilities, ethics and general guidelines on property management.
·       Serve as primary point of contact for management and administration of leases with respect to of. Effectively interpret, train and communicate RTI Procurement Policies and Procedures to project and Regional office staff.
·       Review procurement files for compliance with RTI and Federal/USAID requirements including supplier identification, competition, source justification and/or price reasonableness.
·       Verify that all procurements are approved and executed in accordance with applicable Federal regulations and RTI Procurement Policies and Procedures. Assist and provide oversight to sourcing in support of project activities on an as-needed basis.
·       Identify and develop qualified suppliers for a broad range of commodities and services in support of project activities with the goal of undertaking enhanced supplier surveillance functions.
·       Provide on-site operational assistance for projects during mobilization/implementation period and as-needed for other major procurement activities; provide demobilization/closeout support as needed.

·       Identify and develop qualified suppliers for a broad range of commodities and services in support of project activities with the goal of undertaking enhanced supplier surveillance functions. Draft, negotiate and finalize all types of contractual correspondence and documents within signature authority.
·       Provide on-site operational assistance for projects during mobilization/implementation period and as-needed for other major procurement activities; provide demobilization/closeout support as needed.
·       Serve as primary point of contact for management and administration of leases with respect to office, residential, warehouse and equipment requirements for Africa.
·       Assist in the development of non expendable property budget approval (including competition requirements); develop notifications for subcontracting activities; submit waivers up to and including lease vs purchase analysis and US source and origin sourcing.
·       Support regional office operations by engaging in purchasing agreements with local suppliers and service agreements for facility and equipment maintenance.
·       Enter and maintain procurement commitments in RTI’s finance and accounting systems; provide support to field offices for procurement activities and review monthly project activity reports in coordination with compliance responsibilities.
·       Facilitate and develop RTI’s logistics capacity with regard to inventory management, warehousing, property control to enhance project activities.
Minimum Requirement:
·       Bachelor’s degree plus three to five (3-5) years of related experience; Master’s degree (law or business) strongly suggested; Legal background and experience a plus.
·       Must be a Kenyan citizen or a resident who is legally and operationally able to work in Nairobi, Kenya to be considered for this position.
·       Knowledge of procurement/contracts principles and terminology as well as basics of contracts administration and finance or accounting. General background, understanding of and experience with various procurement and/or logistics activities.
·       Knowledge of, and experience with, the use and interpretation of regulatory material such as the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Agency Supplementary Regulations (especially various USAID regulations and policies), Code of Federal Regulations, and Uniform Commercial Code.
·       Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, project staff, and clients. Proficient interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
·       Ability to perform duties that require close attention to detail, to prioritize workload and follow tasks through to completion.
·       Ability to work independently within scope of job description. Basic math and computer skills.

The Objective of the program is to reduce the prevalence of disabilities and mitigate the effect of impairments by increasing community awareness, strengthening maternal and newborn care and providing comprehensive early intervention services.

Job Summary:

Based in Nairobi, the incumbent will provide coordination and technical assistance and organize trainings, meetings and workshops in liaison with the APDK national Branch Coordinators and government staff.

Key Responsibilities:
·       Develop appropriate training materials for various target groups
·       Identifying training needs and source/research for appropriate materials
·       Coordinate national and branch trainings, workshops and/or meetings.
·       Manage training budgets and ensure proper accounting
·       Supervision at the various trainings and provide assistance in ToT facilitation
·       Collecting data on trainings and write reports
·       Liaise with MOMS and other Health Training Institutions on development of training
·       Assist the management team in other assignments as required
Qualifications
·       Basic Degree on Health related field or Social Services
·       Higher diploma in Health/Medical Education will be an added advantage
·       2 years experience in conducting trainings for health workers/communities
·       Knowledgeable on government training standards for health workers
·       Computer literate, a elf motivated team player and resourceful
