Logistician

To support its humanitarian operations in Somalia

Project Location: Mogadishu (currently based in Nairobi but willing and ready to travel and/or relocate to Project location when need arises).

Start date: ASAP.

Type/Length of contract: 6 Months contract with possibility of extension.

The position:

The selected candidate will be reporting to the Technical & Logistics Coordinator.

The scope of responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following:
  • Support the activities of the Project with the resources, procedures and tools defined with the T&L Coordinator, in order to facilitate achievement of the operational objectives:
  • Oversee the implementation of and compliance with MSF logistics procedures, policies and management tools; when necessary, propose improvements.
  • Responsible for logistical and medical supplies to the Project.
  • Manage and monitor the logistics of the material resources for the Project, under the supervision of the line manager and the technical adviser.
  • Implement support activities (communications, electricity, transport) and any other logistical activities required to achieve the medical objectives (construction/restoration, water & sanitation, etc.).
  • Coordinate the work of all the logistics teams, supervise their training and carry out their evaluations.
Recruitment criteria:

A holder of a diploma or degree, with training in any given technical area (carpentry, electricity, IT, supply, or WATSAN), and with the following experience:

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the area of humanitarian logistics,

At least 1 years’ experience in a similar role in a humanitarian organization,

Relevant MSF experience is an asset.

Job Summary:

The position holder will assist in management of the Education - HIV&AIDS portfolio in, programme design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

This includes: provision of technical support to partners in programme design in line with Concern programme objectives; support development and implementation of the advocacy strategy; document and communicate programme results; develop and monitor programme budget and administer partner grants and provide feedback to partners and line manager.

Summary of Essential Qualifications

A first degree in Education - a master’s degree in Education or equivalent is desirable; at least 5 years ‘experience in implementing primary education programmes for vulnerable children in urban slums; significant experience/knowledge in primary education policies and working with Ministry of Education at Micro, Meso and Macro level; at least 2 years’ experience in national level advocacy in primary education; at least 1 year practical experience in Mainstreaming Gender, HIV&AIDS and Child Protection; experience in programme planning, monitoring, and evaluation; knowledge/experience in working with and through local partners; computer and report writing skills.

  • To work in close collaboration with the operations, programme and project teams in solving complex HR related issues and information delivery;

  • Implement and follow-up on changes in administrative rules, regulations and procedures;
  • Advocate for and implement corporate HR strategies, policies and tools, e.g. National career development, Gender, Harassment and IMC Code of Conduct;
