Brief Description:
The position holder shall report to Manager Inspection and Integrity.
The main responsibilities (among others) are:
- Responsible for all NDT work in the Refinery and refinery facilities.
- Responsible for all new construction work quality control.
- Responsible for quality control in all maintenance activities affecting the pressure envelop.
- Develop and enforce quality Integrity Management Procedures
- Develop short, mid and long term inspection/maintenance programs.
- Generate major turnaround maintenance scopes of work.
- Cross country pipelines integrity/ inspection programs.
- Proactive Inspections programs for tanks, process equipment, process plant.
- Proactive inspection programs for all steel structures comprising supports, bridges, platforms etc, etc.
- Day to day advisory on integrity threats and best practices.
- Statutory compliance management.
- Training and development of apprentices
- Maintenance of independent Integrity Audit Processes to maintain internationally acceptable level of integrity assurance.
The key tasks ( among others) are:
- Provide specialist advice on all matters pertaining to NDT activities in the refinery.
- Integrity assurance of the entire plant and pressurized envelop.
- Maintain data base of up to date data, analyse, and monitor corrosion/ material loss in all process loops.
- Proactively identify integrity threats in the Refinery Plant and facilities and advise mitigation actions.
- Calculate and confirm structural strengths for new, modified or repaired and existing infrastructure to assure integrity.
- Enforce quality of repairs, and new constructions to ensure strict adherence to codes and best practices.
- Supervise/ advise contractors on construction methodologies.
- Pressure safety devices maintenance program.
- Cathodic protection monitoring program,
- Participate in RCA/ DE programs.
- Conduct audits in integrity management assurance.
- Maintain data base on preferred manufacturers,and engineering material sources,
- Advisory on materials testing for acceptability, including PMR,
- Advisory, and qa/qc on weld repair processes in repair jobs.
- Provide training in the field of Welding, NDT technics, Certifications, legal compliances, etc, to staff Engineering, Operations and Technology departments.
- Participate in the relevant global/regional networks in the field of Refinery Inspections as and when needed.
- Seek and promote best NDT/ Inspection practices that will lead to enhanced delivery of the Best-in-Class targets.
- Work closely with the shutdown teams in following best practices in turnaround maintenance.
- Review inspectors turn around work scopes and optimize said work scopes during the Scope Challenge Workshops in order to help ensure the best overall refinery plant utilization.
- Provide advice in developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure/trend activities relating to site integrity assurance.
- Provide advice in selection and proper execution of alternative inspection and non-destructive test methods and techniques to improve plant/equipment integrity and reliability.
- Review and approve the inspection schedules for static equipment and piping (both shutdown and on-stream) related to identified corrosion failure mode
Job Requirements:
- Possess a bachelor's degree (from a recognized university) or tertiary/professional qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years experience in hands-on inspection/ corrosion engineering in process plants
- Candidates with post graduate qualification in inspection, material science, corrosion engineering, will have added advantage.
- Good knowledge of the various refining processes and inspection challenges
- Candidate should have sound knowledge of developments in NDT inspection technics
- Must be a self starter with strong leadership qualities, able to work effectively in multidiscipline teams, and have well developed communication skills
- Must have practical knowledge in latest Inspection technics, Risk Based Inspection methodologies, fitness for purpose analysis, and working with Inspection Data Management Systems
- Must have comprehensive knowledge of failure analysis methodologies and report writing
- Sound and applied knowledge of HSE management processes
