MSF Switzerland Dadaab Programme Pharmaceutical Technologist Job in Kenya

MSF Switzerland (MSFCH) is a humanitarian medical organization providing emergency medical aid to populations in need.

At present, MSFCH operates in three programmes locations in Kenya, Somalia and Sudan:

Location: Dagahaley, Dadaab

Start date: June, 2011

Type of contract: Fixed Term 1 Yr - renewable

Main Tasks:

1. To run MSF central pharmacy which supplies drugs and medical materials to the main hospital and health post
2. To prepare International MSF and Emergency orders in collaboration with Expatriate Nurse and the Medical Coordinator
3. To record correctly all the entries for existing stock and ensure that at all times the physical stock equals theoretical stock on soft and hard copy
4. Check drug consumption, prescription behavior, drug storage and pharmacy registers
5. Provide a monthly pharmacy statistics, check on a monthly basis the expiry dates of drugs, the non-moving, slow moving, materials in the pharmacy and health post dispensary.
6. Ensure staff training (formal and informal), under the supervision of the hierarchical referent
7. Report immediately to the technical referent any problem arising in the service, especially the loss/robbery/damage of medical equipment or medicines

Requirements:

• Pharmaceutical Degree/Diploma from a reputable institution of learning.
• Previous MSF or NGO experience an asset
• Fluent in written and spoken English, Somalia and Kiswahili an asset
• Ability to quickly develop relationships with a diverse cultural background
• 2 year experience working in a busy hospital setup as a Pharmacist
• Willingness to learn, develop capacities and take responsibilities
