Reporting to the Project Executant, the Project Officer will work on full time basis to ensure that the project outputs and activities in his / her area of assignment are carried out as laid down in the project documents and are articulated to meet the laid down project objectives.
The Incumbent will participate in strategic partnership-building at the project level.
Major duties include:
· Undertaking project implementation, partner identification and develop project lateral and vertical partnership, roles and capacity, and provide strategic analysis and engagement approaches for the partners to ensure active participation in delivering the project vision and goal;
· Harmonize partner interests and support joint activities amongst partners, including liaising with local communities, partners, local authorities and the government including relevant government agencies;
· Build effective conflict abetment and resolution intervention among the different project communities/partners to ensure harmonious involvement among all stakeholders;
· Work closely and strengthen viable local community structures for effective project implementation;
· Work closely with the Project Resource Economist and WWF-KCO Policy Officer and other consultants to understand the difficulties local communities have on the use of natural resources in the basin and develop a sustainable strategy;
· Undertake project education programme and assist in the development of project education and communication materials for sharing information, represent and share the vision and goals of WWF project at all levels.
Required Qualifications and Experience;
· A University Degree in Sociology, Community Development or closely related field;
· At least 5 years working experience in Community development and mobilization with a strong bias towards community based approaches;
· Experience in designing and pre-testing and implementing community and stakeholder mobilization and organization processes;
· Proven community mobilisation skills are essential;
· Excellent inter-personal skills, with the ability to network and to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels, both internally and with local communities, government agencies;
· Excellent oral and written communications skills in English;
· Excellent knowledge of Kiswahili and local cultures are added advantages.
