Relief Services –USCCB is the official agency of the United States Conference
of Catholic Bishops for relief and development overseas. CRS supports programs
in over 100 countries and works through local partners. We are seeking suitable
persons to fill the following positions in response to the drought crisis in
the country.
All candidates require technical competencies in the respective areas, experience in emergency programming, willingness to travel to the field and a commitment to work with and support faith based partners of CRS many of whom are Catholic institutions.
1) Project Officer: Water & Sanitation
4 Positions
Location: Isiolo, Mandera & Wajir (Ref.2011/15) and Dadaab (Ref.2011/16)
Purpose: Reporting to the Project Manager, the Officer will be in charge of implementing a CRS funded Drought Response Project in Isiolo , Wajir, & Mandera covering water and sanitation and will work closely with counterparts from the implementing partner
Summary of Key Responsibilities
The officer will coordinate and manage the implementation of WASH program within the cluster in compliance with CRS requirements and Humanitarian Charter, take lead in developing and ensuring adherence to activity plans and other operational tools; and monitoring.
S/he will be responsible for effective delivery of project activities to time and budget, production of quality project reports.
The Officer will develop and manage partnerships within the water subsector in the project area, ensure effective representation of CRS in relevant fora and boards and take lead in project learning and documentation

- Bachelor’s degree in Water and Environmental Engineering/Science or related development discipline
- Post graduate diploma in Project Management, Community Development or related field
- Minimum three years working experience in development work
- Good understanding of policy context and ability to think critically
- Good interpersonal and public relation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication and computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs)
- Ability to customize water and sanitation facilities to community needs
- Excellent analytical skills (research and writing)
- A professional with high personal integrity, commitment and good steward of agency resources
- Ability to cope with work with people from diverse backgrounds
- Knowledge of SPHERE standards

Project Officer: Hygiene Promotion
Ref.2011/17
Location: Dadaab
Purpose: Reporting to the Project Manager and working closely with the implementing partner, the Officer will be in charge of hygiene promotion within the target community under the Drought Response project in Dadaab. S/he will also work in close collaboration with other partners within the WASH cluster
Summary of Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
The Officer will directly be responsible for hygiene promotion activities within the project, training of beneficiaries on hygiene and sanitation, participate in community mobilization and frontline delivery of project activities. S/he will develop and adhere to activity plans, participate in timely and quality project reporting and periodic reviews.
