Required
for a growing National Civil Society Organization based in Ongata Rongai but
with programs in Nairobi and Mombasa, an enterprising, imaginative and results
oriented individual to fill the following position:
Project Coordinator
Job Purpose
- To implement a project on citizen engagement in water activities, aimed at expanding opportunities for citizens to access water as a human right and improve their livelihoods; while supporting the Organization’s strategic growth in various sectors.
- S/he will work through local groups and communities to ensure that all aspects of programming are well coordinated resulting in efficiency, high team morale and cost effectiveness.
Main
Responsibilities:
Capacity Development
- Supporting and developing the capacity of community groups to undertake different activities
- Facilitating different forums both relating to staff and also in the field
Program
Support
- Timely and high quality reporting to donors, partners and other stakeholders
- Monitoring and Evaluation
- Providing support in relevant research
- Providing support on advocacy approaches in the water sector
- Networking and following up on specific issues of social concern as they arise
- Supporting staff to deliver the project and organization’s objectives
Financial
Management Support
- Supporting budgeting, and budget control activities through the Finance Officer
- Coordinating resources mobilization activities in conjunction with management and the board
Required
qualifications and Competencies:
- At least a relevant Degree, especially in the Social Sciences, Environment or related field
- Minimum 3 years working experience in Project Implementation/ Management
- Experience in Water and Environment Projects and a thorough understanding of water issues
- Experience in, and capacity to undertake resource mobilization
- Excellent Community Facilitation Skills
- Competence in Monitoring, Evaluation ,Reporting and Learning
- Good understanding and experience of the Advocacy approach
