has approximately 350 staff to support its research and capacity building
programmes located at various sites in Kenya and Ethiopia.
icipe wishes to urgently recruit a suitable person to fill the position of Artisan (Woodwork) in our Building and Site Maintenance Department (Workshop), at icipe Duduville campus, Kasarani, Nairobi.

i. Overall duties
To perform carpentry, joinery and roofing work, as well as cutting and fitting window glass in offices, laboratories and the guesthouse.
ii. Specific duties
icipe wishes to urgently recruit a suitable person to fill the position of Artisan (Woodwork) in our Building and Site Maintenance Department (Workshop), at icipe Duduville campus, Kasarani, Nairobi.

To perform carpentry, joinery and roofing work, as well as cutting and fitting window glass in offices, laboratories and the guesthouse.
ii. Specific duties
- Install
wooden fixtures and fittings, e.g. window frames and doors, and roof
trusses.
- Carry
out fabrication of all types of furniture and wood fittings.
- Make
roof repairs using iron sheets, transparent glass, fibreglass, tiles, etc.
- Make
furniture repairs.
- Ensure
that painting and masonry work by contractors is satisfactorily done.
iii. Other duties
- Painting

- Assist
in making quotations for carpentry, masonry and painting work.

The ideal candidate should:

- Be
a holder of a KCSE, followed by a certificate in carpentry and joinery
from a recognised institution;
- Possess
5 years on-the-job experience.

organisational skills to manage his/her time well;
- Good
interpersonal and communication skills are an advantage.
Reporting: This position
reports to the Workshops supervisor.
