TOR for New Position with The MENTOR Initiative - Kenya
Title: Emerging Tropical Diseases, Programmes Director
The MENTOR Initiative is a specialist tropical disease control NGO, working with the Ministry of Health, Kenya, to reinforce and build capacity for the establishment and maintenance of effective surveillance and control of life threatening vector borne diseases.
If successful candidate will have at least 8 years experience in senior level management of vector borne disease control programmes at public health level, and will have worked in several disease endemic countries.
You will have proven experience working within international organisations and collaborating with international disease control partners (academic and operational), and you will be able to transfer, and cross fertilize, best practice in disease control learnt from other country experiences. In particular, you will have prior disease control experience and training in the control of emergency vector borne diseases including Dengue fever and Chikungunya.
You will have a successful track record of design and management of vector borne disease control programmes, budgets, and donor fund raising.
You will have excellent team management capacity and donor reporting skills.
You will also have excellent technical training and capacity building skills and will have proven experience of successfully working with national health leaders and decision makers in strategic planning and roll out of vector borne disease control programmes.
You will be an excellent communicator and will be able to work effectively in the two main international scientific languages (English and French), and will be able to travel and present the Kenya programmes results at national and international tropical medicine conferences, and will be able to work with national and international partners to co-ordinate the development of international publications as an when appropriate.
