Job Title: Programme Officer, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) /Operational Research (OR)
Duty Station: Nairobi with regular travels to project areas
Reports to: National Programme Coordinator
Duration: 1 year (Renewable subject to performance and availability of funds)
The SRHR Alliance and the YE Alliance are consortiums of civil society organizations working to promote the sexual and reproductive Health and rights of young people, women and the marginalized, in Africa, Asia and the Netherlands.
The two Alliances implement the Unite for Body Rights (UFBR) Programme and the
Access Services and Knowledge (ASK) programme respectively in 15 counties with support from the Dutch Ministry of foreign Affairs. Both Alliances operate under one secretariat.

Monitoring and Evaluation and Operational Research are critical components of the Alliance programming and it is against this backdrop that the Alliance seeks to recruit a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Programme Officer, M&E/0R.
Overall Purpose: The holder of the position will be responsible for M&E and OR aspects of programmes within the Alliance. He or she will work closely with the National Programme Coordinator based in Nairobi, the country lead based in Netherlands and a PME expert also based in Netherlands.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with partner organizations, identify and prioritize areas of operational research to be pursued by the partner organizations with his/her support;
- Help/support partner organizations to conduct operational research based on identified priorities and to utilize the information obtained to continuously improve their programmes.
- In collaboration with partner organizations, conduct outcome measurement and other M&E assignments of the UFBR and ASK programmes.
- Develop a strategy for documenting and disseminating OR and M&E information/results to alliance members and stakeholders.
- Build networks and promote collaboration with local research institutions and the OR working group in the Netherlands.
- Monitor the progress of the Alliance processes related to M&E and OR and advice the Alliance accordingly
- Provide regular updates and reports on OR and M&E
- Perform any other duty assigned to him/her by the Alliance
Qualifications and experiences
- A minimum of Post-graduate degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Education or Development Studies.
- Proven experience of not less than 5 years in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis
- Good understanding of LFA
- Experience in conducting operational research
- Good understanding of NGO working policies
- Familiarity with the sexual and reproductive health and rights environment in the country.
- Supports the fundamentals of the Sexual and Rights based approach.
- Strong facilitation skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
- Experience in communicating and coordinating with a variety of partners
- Excellent analytical and report writing skills
- Prepared to frequently travel to the project sites in Kenya.
