Nithi Water and Sanitation Company General Manager Job in Kenya

Nithi Water and Sanitation Company Limited is one of the Water Service Providers contracted by Tana Water Services Board as an agent to provide water and sanitation services in Chuka and Chogoria Towns and their environs. 

For a complete corporate management team, the company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons with excellent credentials to fill the position of the company’s General Manager.
 

The General Manager shall be reporting and will be answerable to the Board of Directors and will be expected to provide overall direction through planning, directing and coordinating the activities of the company. 

The General Manager shall also provide strong and inspirational leadership all geared to achieving the performance goals and objective of the company and in particular improving service delivery to all customers and stakeholders.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensuring that the company complies with all legal/statutory requirements.
• Ensuring effective implementation of the Board policies.
• Providing visionary leadership and managing the company’s resources effectively and efficiently for maximum productivity.
• Develop, improve and operate the company’s management systems.
• Ensuring continuous achievement in financial and operating objectives.
• Acting as secretary to the Board of the company.
• Developing and periodically updating the corporate plan including projections of any necessary expansion and development of facilities and extensions of the business operations.
• Coordinating and directing the company’s operational plans and performance targets.
• Leading in change management within the company and be consistent with the commercial principles and practices of operating a corporate business.
• Effectively promote the image of the company at all times.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Board of Directors.

Minimum qualifications

• A Bachelors degree in water/civil engineering or a bachelors degree in a business related field e.g. Economics, Commerce or a bachelors degree in Environmental /Water related sciences or their equivalent from a recognized university.
• Also as a requirement is a postgraduate training in management.
• Either a minimum of 8 years experience in water and sewerage development, management and operations, 5 of which must have been in senior management position OR a minimum of 5 years experience in an executive position in a large service delivery organization.
• Good report writing, communication skills and an astitute team player.
• Proficiency in standard office computer applications
• Proven strong organizational skills and ability to multi – task.
• Demonstrate experience in strategic management, including planning, goal setting and preparation of technical reports.
• A sound understanding of water sector reforms and the emerging issues in the water services provision sub sector.
• High level of integrity and comply with chapter six of the Kenya Constitution.

Qualified and successful candidate will be employed on a three – years performance based contract renewable upon meeting the laid down performance targets.
