The Fred Hollows Foundation, an international NGO founded in 1992 has been a driving force in the development and implementation of blindness prevention programs in some of the poorest and most isolated regions in the world.
Currently operating in 22 countries throughout Africa, South Asia and South East Asia, The Foundation has restored sight to over 1 million people worldwide and has recently been named one of the Australia’s best NGO’s.
An ambitious strategic plan for 2014-2018 aims to take The Foundation even closer to realising our vision of ending avoidable blindness.
Due to a recent partnership with The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, a charitable foundation established to mark and celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s 60-year contribution to the Commonwealth, we are currently seeking for suitable candidates to join our Kenya team working across a number of key projects and partnerships aimed at ending avoidable blindness through Trachoma in the following positions:
2 Positions
Field Based, Kenya
Previous experience in program planning and implementation is essential.
Your experience working for a development, government or community based organisation will be looked at favourably.
In addition to your previous experience your ability to cultivate key relationships will be your strength - developing strategies and resources to influence, persuade and build the confidence of partners, program staff and other stakeholders.
A strong interest in Public Health will be highly desirable.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- 3+ years’ experience in program coordination and implementation
- experience working for an international development organisation or community based organisations
- experience in coordinating outcomes through partners as well as the ability to work independently
- excellent interpersonal skills
- the ability to interpret financial management data
- strong analytical skills
- strong written and verbal English skills as well as Swahili
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Your ability to travel extensively domestically is essential and some work will involve travel to remote locations.
This position is a 2 year fixed term contract, with the potential opportunity to extend for up to 5 years.
2. Accounts Assistant
1 Position
Based in Nairobi, Kenya
This opportunity exists for a motivated finance professional to provide high level support in the areas of book keeping, accounting and reporting.
In this busy and varied role you will use your skills and expertise to build capacity across our partners, ensuring financial resources are managed effectively, with a high level of transparency and accountability.
To be successful in the role you will have;
- appropriate professional financial qualifications, at minimum a Bachelor of Finance
- 2+ years professional work experience, ideally in an NGO or INGO environment with exposure to the financial management of complex programs and projects
- sound knowledge of current legislation and regulatory requirements
- demonstrated track record in supporting and building the capacity of staff in relation to financial matters
- excellent communication skills, including fluency in written and spoken English
- high level of computer literacy with sound knowledge of financial accounting software and spreadsheet packages.
- Experience working with Sun Systems ideal but is not essential.
Your ability to travel extensively domestically is essential and some work will involve travel to remote locations.
