About our organization: The World Agroforestry Centre (also known as the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry or ICRAF) is an independent research institution which generates science-based knowledge about the complex role trees play in agricultural landscapes and rural livelihoods.
As part of the Centre’s work to bring tree-based solutions to bear on poverty and environmental problems, researchers – working in close collaboration with partners – are developing new technologies, tools and policy recommendations for increased food security and ecosystem health.
The Centre’s headquarters are located in Nairobi, Kenya, and research is conducted in more than 30 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We are supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and receive funding from over 50 different donors.

About the position: Provide accounting support to Finance Officer at the ESAf Regional Office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the Finance officer in administration, monitoring and keeping clear records of all regional accounts
- Monitor incomes and expenses and produce relevant financial reports
- Produce monthly financial reports for each project/programme
- Provide support in the preparation of budgets and financial reports
- Follow up and monitor the disbursement of funds to partners
- Follow up payments for consultancy/expert contracts
- Handle all financial aspects related to organisation and execution of meetings, workshops and conferences
- Support the Finance office to ensure that all imprest accounts are reconciled
- Ensure proper filing and archiving of regional financial documents, including contracts with donors, minutes of meetings with donors
Requirements:
- At least a minimum of CPA (II) or its equivalent.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Commerce will be an added advantage
- Up to 3 years’ progressive experience in a similar organization
- Experience in an NGO or international organization environment
- Good understanding of budgeting and financial management procedures
- Good knowledge of an accounting software such as Sun System is desirable
- Experience interacting with people of different backgrounds, nationalities, cultures, etc.
- Computer literate
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Team player and highly motivated

The appointment will be for an initial period of three (3) years, subject to a six (6) months’ probation period.
