Medecins Sans Frontieres - Belgium is looking for HIV/TB Supervisor & Referral Clinician

Based in Nairobi, on a fixed term contract, extendable

The selected candidate will report to the Medical Focal Person and Field Coordinator.

He/she will be responsible for ensuring quality HIV/TB care is provided within MSF-B Kibera project in Nairobi.

Main tasks include, but not limited to:
  • Developing, maintaining, updating and implementing protocols/guidelines on HIV/AIDS/TB care for MSF project based on national protocols and MSF approved guidelines, in collaboration with the medical coordinator and other relevant parties nation wide.
  • Training and supervision of medical staff working in HIV/AIDS/TB care in the project, including compilation and distribution of relevant medical journals/articles for use in the project, evaluation of staff and identification of recommended improvement.
  • Analyzing and interpreting medical data collected in the project to support internally and externally needed reports and/or to define future strategies.
  • Be the referent person in HIV/AIDS/TB care provided in the project.
  • Referral clinician for other complex medical activities.
  • Overseeing and monitoring patients’ referral system in the project and ensuring its implementation in coordination with other departments.
  • Assisting in the ordering of HIV/AIDS/TB related drugs and medical equipments.
  • Evaluating the existing strategy, goals and objectives of HIV/AIDS/TB care in the project, advise and together with the project and medical coordinator design proper future strategy to be implemented in the project.
  • Representing MSF at stakeholders meetings and national ARV taskforce, in coordination with medical coordinator.
Working hours: Monday to Friday - 08.00 to 12.30 and 13.30 to 17.00. (Can be called upon to work on Saturdays).

Requirements:
  • Registered Medical Doctor or Clinical Officer, with a minimum of 2 years experienced in HIV/AIDS/TB.
  • Strong technical, management and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility, motivated, autonomous, proactive, patient, discreet, open minded.
  • Strong sense of confidentiality, team spirit and dynamism.

Laboratory Systems Strengthening Project

Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is a nonprofit international health organization with a mission to close gap between what is known about public health problems and what is done to solve them particularly in developing and transitional counties. The MSH Kenya Laboratory Systems Strengthening Project calls for Expression of Interest from individuals with expertise in the following technical areas;

Capacity Building

Interested individuals will demonstrate their ability to provide short term consultancy services in selected capacity building activities. Extensive relevant capacity building expertise, knowledge, competencies, and experience in the following areas is required;
  • Strategic planning development process
  • Planning and Budgeting for district level public health and laboratory services
  • Grant Proposal Development and Management for health service delivery
  • Scientific Writing for sharing scientific laboratory information at international conferences and Publishing in peer review journals
Document Editing

The project calls for interest from qualified and interested individuals, or organizations with a pool of seasoned document editors to provide editing services for a series of Health / Medical related documents, materials and technical reports for use at various health settings.

The primary responsibility of the editorial team will be to edit documents such as guidelines.

The editor is also required to index the content, layout the table of content, layout the appendices and annexes and may be asked to review figures and tables and captions in the material to prepare the draft for publication/ printing.

The eligible vendor will be required to furnish samples of their recent work; recently edited or published health / medical related documents / books.

Mapping of Medical Laboratory-Related Attributes

The project calls for expression of interest from qualified Surveyors who must be registered with the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (Land Surveyors’ Chapter) and have knowledge and experience in the application of GPS technology.

Interested individuals for all areas of interest are required to submit their detailed letter of motivation, curriculum vitae, current company profile (if applicable) with names and contact information of the company’s technical team (telephone and e-mail address).

If available, information on similar projects undertaken by the individual/company in the recent past can be included in the application.

This expression of interest does not guarantee availability of short term consultancy or work. Detailed scopes of work will be provided as and when appropriate in the selection process.
