Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • An advanced degree in Business Administration / Economics / Agriculture / Management or a related field;
  • In excess of 10 years’ solid professional experience with progressively higher levels of responsibility;
  • In excess of 5 years’ experience leading a business unit or large scale project with responsibility for aspects of operations;
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the African environment, preferably in East Africa;
  • Private sector experience gained in Management Consulting, Agri-business and / or Food Processing, Financial Services, industries would be highly beneficial;

Research Officer


The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization that carries out policy relevant research on population, health, education and development issues facing sub-Saharan Africa. 


The Center seeks to recruit a Research Officer to work in a newly funded research project to investigate the role of multi-sectoral approaches in the making and implementation of policies for Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) prevention. 


This will be done by compiling evidence on NCD prevention policy making in five African countries including Kenya using a case-study approach.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct a comprehensive document and literature review on established policy analysis frameworks
  • Lead the process for obtaining ethical approval for the Kenya case study
  • Develop study tools, training manuals and field guides to use for data collection for the Kenya case study
  • Coordinate the recruitment and training of the field team as well as field work for the Kenya case study
  • Conduct interviews with a variety of actors using qualitative research techniques
  • Plan, set up logistics and coordinate several research-related workshops for participants from the five countries
  • Coordinate policy outreach activities including policy dialogue and research dissemination events
  • Assist in writing scientific papers
  • Preparing project reports

Required:

To achieve this goal you will:

  • Be the first contact for the grower towards the FloraHolland organization
  • Set up and execute account plans together with the growers including objectives of the grower and the match with existing/new FloraHolland services.
  • Be a liaison officer between the grower, the local FloraHolland office and the different service departments / auctions in Holland.
  • Set up and execute an acquisition plan to attract new but also existing growers
  • Follow up the developments within the sector and initiate new developments to fulfil the needs of the growers
  • Maintain a network in the floricultural industry in general and act on behalf of FloraHolland in high level management discussions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in relationship/account management and/or business to business (B2B) sales. Experience in the flower industry is an added advantage
  • Ability to engage in high leveL management discussions
  • Team player / result driven / commercially strong / innovative
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, problem-solving skills and organisational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills including customer service skills
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, in both writing and oral communication
  • Ability to work independently

Design of Kajiado County Flag, Coat of Arms & Slogan and Public Seal Competition
 

Background
 

In line with the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and the County Government Act, No. 17 of 2012, section (4) we wish to invite the public to participate in the design of The Kajiado County Flag, County Coat of Arms & Slogan and The County Public Seal. 


The same act stipulates requirements to guide the design of the above as follows:

  • A County symbol shall not be the same as or bear a likeness or similarity to a national symbol
  • The designs should not infringe on any copyright and the contestants will indemnify Kajiado County against any infringement.

The Kajiado County performs various functions guided by core principles in delivery of services which include public participation, transparency, accountability and integrity. 


The functions are set out in the 4th schedule of the Constitution of Kenya.


Eligibility
 

i. Entrants must be Kenyan citizens and Kajiado County residents are encouraged to apply
 

ii. The contest is open to individuals and organized teams but not any corporate entities
 

iii. Entrants must be eighteen years and above
 

Entry guidelines
 

i. The entrants are required to collect an entry form from Kajiado County office of the interim County Secretary.
 

ii. Entrants must not submit more than one entry in each category
 

iii. There is no fee to enter the contest
 

iv. Please note that once a winner has been selected and awarded, Kajiado County shall retain copyright and all intellectual property rights.
 

v. The designs, should reflect the socio-cultural and economic aspirations of Kajiado County
 

vi. Submissions of the proposed designs should be in full color measuring 28*20cm and in high resolution (pixels) 


Prizes
 

The winner in each category will be announced through the press and will be awarded as follows:
 

a) Kajiado County Coat of arms & slogan: winner cash prize of Kshs 75,000 and a certificate, first run up ksh. 50,000 and a certificate and second run up Kshs 35,000 and a certificate.
 

b) Kajiado County flag: winner cash prize of Kshs 75,000 and a certificate, first run up ksh. 50,000 and a certificate and second run up Kshs 35,000 and a certificate.
 

c) Kajiado County Public seal: Winner cash prize of kshs 50,000 and certificate, first run up Kshs 35,000 and certificate and second run up kshs 20,000 and a certificate.

Senior Business Analyst

Reporting to the HOD, Consumer Planning & Pricing, the principle role is to provide business support to VAS and Retention Product Managers and encompasses reporting, performance measurement, business intelligence and preparing payments and resolving disputes for content providers.

The job holder’s key responsibilities will be;

  • Pricing of PRSP products i.e. gaming and non-gaming codes, VAS Onboarding codes and Special Codes that Safaricom promotes, SKIZA, mobile advertising and other VAS products
  • Pricing of Bulk SMS product and review of revenue share matrix to ensure growth in revenue and to manage costs
  • Preparation of Bonga Redemption matrix as per business needs
  • Post price review using the business case as the guide, ensuring measurement of actual performance vis-à-vis projected numbers
  • Attend meetings with product managers & other stakeholders to understand the concept, mechanisms and processes around new products.
  • Monthly generation of insights on VAS products that gives detailed analysis of the products and services
  • Preparation of monthly performance reports on all VAS products
  • Preparation of monthly payments schedules to facilitate partner payments
  • Represent and act on behalf of CBU in any projects that you may be assigned to.

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills & competencies;

  • BCOM or Economics Degree or relevant degree with 2 - 3 years’ experience in financial analysis, costing and/or management accounting, coupled with CPA/ACCA/CA Qualifications;
  • MBA qualification will be an added advantage with high computer literacy;
  • Good analytical skills for decision making and attention to detail;
  • Ability to relate well with both internal and external customers and work in teams;
  • Ability to make use of management reports to take action within strict deadlines;
