Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Capacity Building and Training Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the training on FAWE’s gender –responsive models in all FAWE National Chapters in line with FAWE strategic objectives.
Place within the organisation: Reporting to the Executive Director for strategic line management and in consultation and collaboration with the Senior Programme Coordination Officer for day to day operations, s/he will be a member of the FAWE RS management and programme department team, working closely with the Programme Officers, M&E Officer, the Communication Officer and the support department.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Facilitating training for FAWE National Chapters

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Facilitating training for FAWE National Chapters
- Initiate, design, develop and coordinate capacity building activities on FAWE’s gender responsive models, as well as advice and train NC through a focus accompaniment approach to achieve intended results.
- Assess the capacity needs of the FAWE national chapter staff, trainers/ and FAWE RS staff on FAWE’s gender responsive models and build their capacity accordingly
- Review and design training materials on FAWE’s gender- responsive models as well as initiate where necessary innovative models
- Organise and conduct training of trainers on FAWE’s gender responsive interventions at regional and sub regional levels and assure quality of training/implementation through ongoing monitoring and regular feedback.
2. Providing technical support and feedback to FAWE NC
- Support FAWE National Chapters to achieve compliance with the minimum standards for the COE transformation process and other FAWE GR interventions through building their capacity using various activities.
- Provide technical and backstopping training support to FAWE National Chapters for capacity building in policy influencing, community advocacy and resource mobilisation for FAWE’s GR interventions replication processes at national level.
- Support in the development and training of online training for NC and RS staff on FAWE’s Gender Responsive Models
- Source out and liaise when necessary with external resources persons to co-facilitate training
3. Documentation and report writing
- Design training materials
- Write training and progress reports as required
- Maintain an electronic register of all training conducted on FAWE gender responsive interventions
- Monitor and document the achievements and impact of the training on FAWE’s gender responsive modules, and in collaboration with the Communications and Advocacy Officer, use data to update material and approaches.
- In collaboration with the Communications Officer, document success stories and lessons,
- In collaboration with the M&E officer, prepare regular technical and progress reports on National Chapters capacity building activities and status and achievements made on girls’ education.
4. Programme planning and networking
- Participate in proposal development on capacity building and programme development for FAWE’s programme funding and review
- Contribute to FAWE RS ongoing programme implementation, monitoring and evaluation (Strategic Plan and Annual Work Programmes and reports).
- Contribute to the development of FAWE RS subsequent Strategic Plans, Annual Work Programmes, budgets and work plans and reports
- Network with other organisations in respect to capacity building programmes in support of FAWE’s strategic objectives and replication of FAWE’s gender responsive models.
- Any other tasks required for FAWE’s work programme interventions
Qualification & Experience
- A Masters degree in Education, gender, Development Studies, or other relevant field
- Varied experience in developing learning materials and delivering training course and other capacity building initiatives
- Minimum of 5 years experience in programme development and implementation in an NGO or a development agency, including experience in policy influencing, community advocacy, resource mobilisation, and Project Cycle management (PCM)
- Good understanding of education and gender issues, challenges and trends within Africa and internationally
- Proven ability to work effectively with diverse group of people
- Proficiency in French and English
- Willingness and able to travel extensively
