Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer of the Holding Company
Scope of Work
The ideal candidate should have proficient knowledge in the following areas: Computer hardware and software systems and programs, computer networks, network administration and network installation, computer troubleshooting, computer viruses and security, e-mail and internet applications, relation and database software applications programming languages, an understanding of the economic, cultural and political environment and should be able to work independently with no supervision, knowledge of SAP financial accounting package is a big plus.
This person has to manage and will provide hardware and software maintenance, training and consultation, and recommendations about future planning and development of resources.
Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure maximum access to and implementation of technology services and resources.
The candidate needs to have strong leadership skills and well organized, flexible and embrace the challenge of managing a big group of diverse people and businesses. Background in working in an investment or holding company will be helpful.
The ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast paced environment, under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role.
Expert level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision making ability and attention to detail are equally important.

The Ideal candidate should have:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, MIS. Masters degree, SAP knowledge and Cisco series examination or other networking qualifications will be an added advantage.
- Managerial level experience in a big corporate or group of companies.
- Must demonstrate how IT integrates with holding company’s businesses and contributes bottom line.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in group environment.
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Must demonstrate visioning leadership in managing staff and major projects or initiatives.
The
key responsibilities include:
- Plan and implement/update all technology projects/strategies. Ensure project documentation is maintained in line with company’s standards.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for electronic data processing, data back up and information security and computer systems operations and development
- Articulate and implement an IT business plan for the group
- Ensure that the business of the company is facilitated through the use of technology for the delivery of superior customer service in line with corporate objectives and goals
- Maximize the companies’ competitive advantage with strict adherence to laid down policies and procedures and conform with regulatory guidelines
- Ensure continuous improvement of operations through deployment of leading edge appropriate technologies that efficiently and effectively support the company’s businesses
- Customize ICT systems into an interactive infrastructure which enables faster access to data and information and the sharing of ICT resources by users to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Assure functionality of operating systems, network and applications software for effective communication and put in place measures which ensure security, privacy and integrity of data and systems;
- Plan and budget for the organization, direct procurement of equipment and staffing to meet the business technology requirements
- Co-ordinate the development of PC based applications to support business products consistent in line with companies’ procedures and best practices
- Work with managers to discuss system requirements, specifications, costs and timelines
- Ensure appropriate organizational and staffing control within the technology function, where required segregation of duties and dual control are maintained.
- Provide visionary leadership and direction for the Group IT team and guide their activities to ensure the achievement of the holding company’s objectives
- Perform other functions as assigned by the holding company Senior Management and participation in subsidiary company board meetings
Languages: Must be fluent in
English, working knowledge in French, or Kinyarwanda is added advantage but not
a requirement.
