The
Danish Refugee Council has been providing relief and development services in
the Horn of Africa region since 1997.
The DRC Kenya Program seeks to fill the following position to be based in Dadaab Refugee Camp.
Liaison & Safety Officer (LSO)
Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the DRC Risk Management System (RMS) in order to support the safe and efficient delivery of program activities within the Kenya Program.

Liaison & Safety Officer (LSO)
Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the DRC Risk Management System (RMS) in order to support the safe and efficient delivery of program activities within the Kenya Program.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct regular risk assessments for each programme area
- Ensure that the Kenya Programme is compliant with the DRC Global Minimum Operating Safety Standards (MOSS)
- Assist in the development of context-specific contingency plans
- Develop a network of contacts with other NGOs, UNDSS, Government agencies, etc
- Act as primary focal point for engagements and negotiations related to access, safety and other issues with refugees, host communities, government authorities, etc
- Act as the country level coordinator for the Incident Management Team
Requirements:
- At least 3 years’ working experience in an NGO and/or other international agency in a managerial/supervisory capacity.
- Candidates without relevant humanitarian experience will not be considered.
- NGO safety management experience is preferred but not required.
- Emergency First Aid qualification (within the last year), and experience in negotiating access for humanitarian agencies.
- Computer literate and fluent in written and spoken English and Kiswahili (Somali speakers will be preferred)
