We seek a dynamic, creative and committed programme officer to lead our complementarity project in Kenya.
The project seeks to strengthen domestic accountability for international crimes arising from the post election violence, including through strategic litigation.
This is a joint project of the Open Society Initiative for Eastern Africa (OSIEA) and the Open Society Justice Initiative (OSJI).
The position reports to the OSIEA Kenya Programme Manager and the OSJI Director of Litigation and OSJI Project Director, Complementarity.

Responsibilities
- Provide strategic vision to develop and implement a program to promote complementarity in Kenya, including through strategic litigation, policy analysis, and law reform
- Design litigation, grant-making, and advocacy strategies to advance the project
- Coordinate and provide grant and technical support to partners
- Provide analysis and regular written updates as required on developments in this area
- Perform any other related duties as requested
Qualifications
- Law degree and at least ten years work experience
- Substantive knowledge of the governance and human rights environment in Kenya
- Minimum of five years experience working on issues related to international justice, the Rome Statute and complementarity
- Extraordinary initiative, creativity and capacity to think strategically
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a diverse array of people
- Team spirit and respectful working and decision-making style
- Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail
- Integrity, diplomatic manner and professional discretion essential
- Willingness to travel as needed
