Utooni Development Organization (UDO)is a Kenya community owned, directed, oriented and focused initiative serving more than eighty Self-Help groups in the counties of Machakos, Makueni, Kajiado and Kitui.
With over 30 years in rural development, our focus is facilitation of sustainable livelihoods through culture-founded and religion-sensitive strategies.
The projects include rainwater harvesting, soil conservation, tree planting, staple food production and preservation.
Resources for implementation of these projects include both internal contributions and external sponsorships.
Position:
The CEO will be the Team Leader, first among equals. As Team Leader, the CEO will shape the organization by articulating its Vision while directing, advising, guiding and also supervising senior staff in the performance of their duties.
The CEO must be comfortable interacting and communicating directly with Board of Directors, Self-Help groups, staff and sponsors.
Responsibility:
Accountable to the Board of Directors, it is the responsibility of the CEO to liaise with the Sponsors and all other stakeholders, motivating them to expand the work of UDO in accordance with its Vision, Mission and Core Values.
Qualifications:
The successful applicant will have documented evidence of:
i) at least forty years of age
ii) at least ten years of experience in fund-raising, community development and mobilization for implementation of projects identified and owned by specific Self-Help group
iii) at least a Bachelor`s degree in Community Development, Humanities, Social Sciences, or Management Sciences – a relevant Master`s degree will be an added advantage
iv) professional qualifications in either Community Development, Project Management, Human Resource Management, Strategic Management or Financial management
v) team leadership in staff management
vi) acquaintance with financial management documents and procedures vii planning, monitoring, evaluation and procurement procedures
viii) computer proficiency
ix) valid driving license
x) written and spoken proficiency in both English and Kiswahili
(xi) Familiarization with the local environment.
Terms:
The position carries an attractive contractual remuneration package commensurate with qualifications.
