Under the supervision of the Conservation Manager, the Project Executant’s major functions will be:

Under the supervision of the Conservation Manager, the Project Executant’s major functions will be:
- to ensure the project effectively contributes to the objectives of the overall framework Project known as “The Innovative Approaches towards Rehabilitating the Mau Ecosystem”.
- S/He will provides advice and collaboration as appropriate to the Conservation Manager;
- Participate in strategic partnership-building at the project level;
- fundraising for project activity implementation;
- have in place effective project organizational/management structures, policies, and processes; and
- ensure that the project technical and financial standards and reporting requirements are met.
Major
duties will include but not limited to:
- technical and administrative supervision and accountable for all project funds, assets and office facilities according to WWF FOM policy, including reporting thereof;
- in consultation with the Conservation Manager, responsible for the development of the project work-plan and ensure its implementation;
- ensure that environmental awareness and education programme continues to be developed and implemented with full participation of the target communities and partners;
- ensure contractual commitments and delivery of the outlined outputs are met;
- ensure the implementation of programme/project reporting, monitoring and evaluation system for the project;
- establish new and strengthen the existing institutional linkages with partners and stakeholders;
- continue to support and strengthen the local communities into conservation groups and assist community/self-help projects in the alleviation of poverty through the existing and/or new income generating activities;
- be the main link between the major stakeholders within the project forming a hub between the governments (national and county), communities, Civil Society Organizations, Private Sector institutions;
- facilitate regular site steering committee meetings to enhance information sharing and increased resource mobilization within key stakeholders to ensure sustainability;
- provide advice on pertinent conservation issues in the area, search for lessons learned within the WWF network that are relevant to the project that could help improve the project implementation;
- participate in relevant conservation meetings and workshops in the area, and develop papers, reports and presentations as necessary.
The
incumbent must possess:
- a university degree in Natural Resource/Environmental Management, Project Management, Ecology, Forestry or related field;
- at least 5years experience in a similar or management position;
- technical proficiency in conservation, forestry and integrated natural resource management;
- good skills in project planning, proposal writing, management, implementation and evaluation as well as experience working with donors;
- strong communication skills (written/oral), good team leader/player with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to network and to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels, both internally and with local communities, government agencies, the not-for-profit sector and the scientific community, leadership and team management skills;
- good skills in negotiation, liaison, relationship and conflict management skills;
- Strong analytical skills;
- A working knowledge of financial management, especially of projects;
- adaptable, flexible, able to take initiative and prioritize among competing demands;
- excellent knowledge of Kiswahili and local cultures are added advantages;
- clean driving license (minimum Class E), with at least 3 years driving experience; and
- adherence to WWF’s values, which are: Optimistic, Engaging, Determined and Knowledgeable;
