We are seeking highly motivated, talented and hard working individual for the position of Quality Improvement Manager – Mombasa

Reporting to the Quality Improvement Advisor and working closely with the Deputy Project Director – Coast, the Quality Improvement Manager provides programming and implementation support to quality improvement activities in the Coast Province. 

Most quality improvement activities are fully integrated in other activities and are implemented by staff in cluster teams and by other program staff. 

Some activities are implemented as separate activities and require active involvement of the Quality Improvement Manager. 

The Quality Improvement Manager ensures that planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and reporting of these activities are fully in line with the overall quality improvement strategies adopted by the project. 

For this, the Quality Improvement Manager refers to and collaborates with the Quality Improvement Advisor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supports the implementation of quality improvement approaches in health facility and community based service delivery points.
  • Provides technical support to the P/DHMT in implementing a decentralized facilitative supervisory system that ensures that MNCH, RH/FP, HIV/AIDS, TB services are implemented in line with national guidelines
  • Provides technical support to public and private health sector providers in implementing quality or performance improvement systems.
  • When required, coordinates or conducts QI trainings/orientations
  • Provides support to the integration of quality improvement in activities of Facility Management Committees and Community Health Committees as defined under the MoH Community and HSSF strategies
  • Support cluster teams in implementation of innovative program ideas/activities at community and health facility setting with regards to QI.
  • Works with the project team to identify, develop, replicate, adapt, document and disseminate new initiatives, promising and best practices on QI
  • Regularly travels to the program’s target counties/districts to provide supervision, monitor progress and provide followup technical assistance (with travel approximately 50% of the time within the designated region).
  • Represents APHIAplus Nairobi - Coast at GOK/partner forums and liaising with focal points in relevant institutions as may be delegated
  • Participates actively in work plans, budgets, reports and other activities.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced diploma in nursing, any clinical medicine & surgery sub-specialty, or public health.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience with international organizations and donors in Kenya will be an added advantage
  • Experience in working with government ministries especially the Ministries of Health
  • Relevant training in quality improvement /quality assurance of health services at facility or community levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in development and improvement of programs addressing quality improvement of health care programs especially HIV/AIDS, MNCH & RH/FP
  • A good understanding of national and international health guidelines, best practices in quality & performance improvement of health programs, curriculum development and training.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and other communication technology such as email and internet
  • Strong writing skills to support technical reporting and tool development
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with fluency in English and Kiswahili
  • Attention to detail with demonstrate high analytical skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work in a team setting and ready to receive and provide direction
  • Ability to work an irregular schedule on occasion with the ability to travel frequently and on short notice throughout the province in remote locations
