VSO is a development
organisation that works through its volunteers and partners to fight poverty
around the world.
We work in almost 50
countries and are constantly exploring new ways to use the time, energy and
skills of people to make a difference. VSO helps make change happen. By
bringing people together to share skills, build capabilities and promote
understanding, we assist the fight against poverty in developing countries.
With a substantial annual
budget and significant restricted funding for the first three years, VSO South
Sudan – is the newest country programme office to open and will be running
three programmes tackling issues of quality in basic services of health and
education, and supporting the development of good governance.
The job
We’re looking for a
dynamic and influential person to join the South Sudan team to lead the growth
and management of VSO South Sudan’s programme support functions, ensuring that
high-quality; customer-focused support is delivered cost-effectively in the key
areas of Administration, Governance and Compliance, Human Resources, Security
and Volunteer Support.
It is key that such a
person should deliver compliance in government and donor requirements as well
as organizational policy; and efficiency and effectiveness in the operations of
the South Sudan Programme.
They will also ensure that
VSO South Sudan attracts and retains high calibre staff, who are managed in
line with VSO policy to maximize their potential; and are well engaged with VSO
strategies and ways of working and feel well supported to deliver on their
role.
Such a person will additionally
deliver on VSO South Sudan staff and volunteer security, and highly contribute
to VSO South Sudan volunteers’ high satisfaction with their VSO experience from
induction to departure, full engagement with the VSO South Sudan programme; and
VSO South Sudan’s Programme Support Teams’ full, active and collaborative
contribution to the delivery of the Country Strategy.
You
You will have a solid
background in administration and human resources management with a superior
knowledge base and experience; ideally gained in working in a development
context.
Key competence requirement
is strong management and leadership skills, people management, and coordination
and negotiation skills at strategy delivery level.
