The
University seeks to recruit a highly motivated, innovative and committed
candidate to fill the position of Deputy
Vice-Chancellor, Finance and Administration.
This
is a senior position within the University’s management structure, and the role
holder will be the Chief Finance and Administration Officer of the University.
Main
Purpose of the Position
Reporting
to the Vice-Chancellor/CEO, the DVC Finance & Administration will be
responsible for the development and implementation of sound financial and
administrative policies and strategies that ensure the financial and
administrative strength the University needs to realize its mission and objectives.
The
job holder will work closely with the VC/CEO and other top management members
in setting the strategic direction of the University and will be instrumental
in delivering the University’s annual business plan.
Key Responsibilities
The
Successful candidate role holder will be expected to:
- Provide leadership, guidance, coordination and direction to the departments within the division — Finance, Human Resources, Administration and ICT
- Develop and implement all procurement, fiscal, human resource, administrative policies and appropriate procedures to ensure common understanding of the performance of duties and responsibilities and their alignment to the University’s strategic plan
- Coordinate preparation of financial statements, budgets, reports and special analysis for presentation to University’s management and Governing Council for approval
- Liaise with financial institutions such as banks and insurance companies, relevant government offices, suppliers, creditors, students, staff and faculty, on various management and technical issues
- Advise the Vice Chancellor and Management Board on financial matters of the University
- Coordinate the design, implementation, maintenance and development of appropriate human resources policies, procedures and systems that attract, develop and retain qualified and experienced human resources
- Ensure the development, deployment and support of an ICT strategy throughout the organization, with due
consideration
of all management, student, academic and administrative needs
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications and Experience
The
candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A PhD earned from a recognised /Chartered University
- At least 10 years’ progressive experience in a senior university leadership/management position e.g., Head of Department, Dean of Faculty, Principal/Director of a University College
- Professional Management and/or accounting qualifications such as CPA (K), ACCA finalist will be an added advantage

The
desired candidate must demonstrate strong leadership skills, knowledge and
experience of strategic planning and strategic thinking and should be a person
of high integrity and professionalism.

The
post of Deputy Vice-Chancellor is subject to a five-year term contract, which
may be renewed on the basis of satisfactory performance.
It
carries a competitive remuneration package.
