Job
Purpose
The
main purpose of this position is to provide the MoH with support to effectively
provide nutrition services to the communities in Mwingi districts as well
as enhance full integration of nutrition services into the Primary Health Care
(PHC) system at facility level.
Duties
and Responsibilities
- Ensure
implementation of programs in line with the approved project proposal and
budget, anticipating and communicating issues/problems in advance to Mercy
USA and the MoH.
- Provide
technical assistance and oversight to MoH health workers and facilities
through mentorship and regular supervision including OJT.
- Ensure
compliance to Mercy USA, Donor and MoH/National policies, procedures and
guidelines that relate to: program (monitoring, reports, evaluations,
etc), health, finance, logistical and human resource development. This
will include adherence to the Terms of Reference and MoU with the MoH and
program targets as outlined in the program document.
- Support
the health team at field/site level in the fulfillment of their duties
according to program design; in particular providing supervision,
direction and mentoring to Facility In Charges and other health workers,
ensuring program quality to relevant internationally recognized
standards
- Support
the health facilities in scaling up outreach activities through logistical
planning, technical advice and where required jointly supervise these
activities with the DNO/DPHN.
- Provide
support for nutrition surveillance at health facilities assisting MoH
staff with timely and accurate reporting to relevant district and
provincial offices and donors.
- Enhance
supply management at district level through tracking of supplies movement
and timely requisition through the DNO to donors to enable efficient
service delivery.
- Support
DHMT in organizing regular coordination meetings at district level.
- Ensure
there are regular documented meetings for all key staff to discuss and
plan program objectives and work/activity plans.

Specification
Essential
Experience
- University
degree in Nutrition
- Experience
in emergency nutrition and familiarity with latest developments in
nutrition.
- Minimum
three years relevant nutrition experience.
- Familiarity with
the Local language and working in Mwingi district will be an
advantage
- Experience
of both emergency and transitional / development settings
- Experience
in training, capacity building and community participation mechanisms
- Experience
of working with host governments and their agents, INGOs and national NGOs
an advantage
- Proven
experience of managing a large workload and multiple priorities
- Strong
communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English
- Knowledge
of computer applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SPSS,
EPINFO, ENA.
- Experience
of establishing strong working relationships with colleagues from
different functions and cultures
- Experience
of a flexible approach to managing and prioritizing a high workload and
multiple tasks in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
- Experience
of proactively identifying and addressing issues
- An
understanding of and commitment to Mercy USA's mission and values
- Fluency
in English is a requirement
