Stationed in Nairobi and reporting to the Medical Service Nurse Coordinator, the Theatre Nurse will provide administrative and technical support to the Medical Service Unit on outreach services according to the MOUs between AMREF and the Hospitals concerned.
Specific areas of responsibility will include:

Stationed in Nairobi and reporting to the Medical Service Nurse Coordinator, the Theatre Nurse will provide administrative and technical support to the Medical Service Unit on outreach services according to the MOUs between AMREF and the Hospitals concerned.
Specific areas of responsibility will include:
- Assisting
the Nurse Coordinator as necessary and provide relevant theatre technical
support
- Providing
support to medical services’ response to disasters and emergencies
- Liaising
with outreach hospitals in preparation of outreach visits, schedules and
work plans
- Booking
outreach flights and informing aviation to prepare flight manifests
- Providing
support in sourcing medical supplies, drugs and equipment for use during
outreach visits.
- Maintaining
outreach reports, schedules of visitors and outreach related
correspondence
- Assist
in planning and implementing workshops and other training initiatives
- Assisting
in preparation and follow-up of specialist allowances
- Providing
support to Kenya Outreach Drought response needs such as reporting,
attending meeting and representing the programme in Kenya Country Office
Forums
- Assisting
in communication with outreach hospitals, specialists and other outreach coordinating
centers.
The
ideal candidate will be a Kenya Registered Peri-operative Nurse (KRPoN) with at
least 3 years experience, of which 1 year should be in Peri-operative
Nursing.
S/he
should demonstrate ability to handle multiple tasks and produce reports on time
and work both independently and in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural team
environment.
S/he
should have good communication, planning and organizational skills.
