MSI is looking for a
Civil Society Advisor for an upcoming United States Agency for
International Development (USAID) funded decentralization program in
Kenya.
The project will assist in implementing a recently adopted decentralization process.

The Civil Society Advisor
is a multi-year, executive-level position that will be based in
Nairobi, Kenya with required in-country travel to target locations.
The selected individual
will be responsible for providing technical expertise in increasing
civil society participation in county and local governance and fostering
greater accountability and transparency at the local government level.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical input on the design and implementation of civil society capacity building;
- Supervise delivery of technical assistance by consultants and sub-contractors of capacity building to civil society and community based organizations;
- Strengthen the capacity of the capacity providers;
- Organize and provide training and technical assistance to civil society grantees and partners as required.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as Civil Society Advisor, or equivalent leadership role, on donor-funded activities in Kenya is desired;
- Ability to lead teams, mentor staff and counterparts, and build capacity;
- Technical knowledge of local governance in one or more of the following areas:
- Civil society capacity building
- Community engagement
- Participatory planning and budgeting
- USAID experience is a plus;
- Ability to travel within Kenya;
- Must be fluent in written and spoken English;
- Advanced degree in international development, public administration, economics, political science or another relevant field preferred;
