Countdown to 2015 County and National Profiles
Call for Consultancy Services
Countdown to 2015 is a multidisciplinary and multi-institutional collaboration comprising governments, academics, international agencies, health-care professional associations, development partners and non - governmental organizations.
For countries such as Kenya that are striving to achieve health related Millennium Development Goals especially MDGs 4, 5 and 6 that focuses on reduction of child mortality, improving maternal health, combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases, information is powerful and essential force for change.
A scientific committee has been established to primarily lead in reviewing, collation and reporting on County and National profiles.
Consultancy Objectives
This consultancy seeks to collate, analyse and come up with County and National profiles on maternal, newborn and child health with a view to accelerate advocacy and improvements for the health of women, newborns and children in Kenya.
Key Tasks
- Liaise with Countdown to 2015 scientific committee to finalise on indicators on maternal, newborn and child health and related areas of focus that includes HIV, Malaria and other diseases
- Facilitate finalisation of required data and data sources
- Participate in Scientific Committee and other relevant meetings
- Review and collate data to be analysed while liaising with the scientific committee and other relevant entities.
- Analyse data alongside thematic areas of coverage, equity, policies, systems and financing
- Prepare draft profile reports including required tables and graphs
- Make presentation of draft profile reports to the scientific committee
- Make presentations during the Countdown to 2015 validation meeting
- Finalize the County and National profiles
- Liaise with communication and advocacy committee on messaging and dissemination of study findings
- Produce a process report
Consultant Qualifications
- Demonstrate understanding of MDG 4, 5 and 6 landscape in Kenya including policies, financing, equity, coverage, health systems strengthening and related global, regional and country initiatives
- Over 10 years relevant experience in research including using statistical packages
- Expertise in handling large data sets
- Knowledge of Kenya’s health systems and operations
- Excellent analytical, writing and facilitation skills
- Knowledge of the stakeholders and developments in data collection, collation, analysis and availability
- Advanced degree in a relevant field of study
Management of the Consultancy
FANIKISHA-a USAID funded project on institutional strengthening supports the Health NGOs Network (HENNET) - a framework through which support is provided to Countdown to 2015 to conduct County and National profiles. FANIKISHA, liaising with HENNET is the contracting agency.
The Ministry of Health through the Division of Reproductive Health, Family Care International (FCI), UNICEF, WHO and other partners will support in organizing meetings and forums associated with this consultancy and Countdown to 2015 activities.

The applicants should submit both technical and financial proposals on how they intend to provide the consultancy.
They should also include their curriculum vitae as an annex.
The main application should not exceed 10 pages.
The applicants should indicate ‘Countdown to 2015 Consultancy’ on the subject line.
The final decision on the applicants rests with the Sub-Committee of the Countdown to 2015 Scientific Committee in liaison with FANIKISHA and HENNET.
