Inspectors

Major duties and responsibilities
- Inspection of agricultural produce at entry/exit points.
- Inspection of seed crops at various stages of seed certification (field inspections, seed sampling, seed testing and labeling).
- Inspection of plant quarantine facilities.
- Inspection of facilities meant for introduction of GMOs and other restricted plant materials.
- Surveillance for pest and disease control.
- Organization and participation in seed post certification survey activities.
- Coordination of farmer advisory services through stakeholder awareness meetings.
- MSc in Crop Protection, BSc in Horticulture, Agronomy, Seed Technology or Botany from a recognized university.
- Knowledge on identification, diagnosis and management of pests.
- Knowledge in pest risk analysis and general plant health compliance determination in traded commodities.
- Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft office packages.
- Ability to work independently, in a team and under pressure.
- Knowledge of a Quality Management System.
Analytical Chemists

Major duties and responsibilities
- Analyses of samples including sample preparation and chemical analysis.
- Data handling and interpretation.
- Represent the organization in relevant stakeholder fora.
- Implementation and improvement of the Quality Management System of the laboratory.
- Technical evaluation of equipment and laboratory consumables to be procured.
- Awareness creation and training of stakeholders.
Key Qualifications
- Master of Science or Bachelor of Science in Analytical Chemistry from a recognized University.
- Be knowledgeable in laboratory instrumentation and/or electronic computer engineering.
- Be familiar with data analysis and reporting.
- Be computer literate in relevant statistical packages.
- Be familiar with laboratory quality management.
- Be a team player, flexible and able to work under pressure.
