Duties & Responsibilities
·       Analyzing the market of commercial energy consumers so as to ascertain industries that require assistance in energy management.
·       Developing annual marketing and sales plans geared towards significantly increasing the number of audited industries in line with strategy and targets and within budget, including strategies and performance targets.
·       Executing marketing strategies and campaigns which would be innovative for reaching the targeted market so as to increase the number of audited industries

·       Frequently updating the CEEC webpage
·       Acting as a liaison between the media and publishers as required

·       Organizing energy efficiency and renewable energy awareness campaigns and trainings.
·       Events planning, organization and execution
·       Attend various forums to promote CEEC activities
·       Any other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive
Requirements:
·       University degree in marketing, business management from a recognized institution.
·       Minimum 3 years of professional working experience.

Minimum requirements:

The United States Embassy – Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Kenya has a vacancy in Nairobi for Public Health Specialist (Laboratory Advisor).

Under the direction of the Laboratory, Blood Safety and Infection Control Branch Chief, the incumbent provides comprehensive technical, administrative and managerial advice and assistance to the Ministry of Health (MOH) and other PEPFAR governmental and nongovernmental implementing partners (IP) in support of strengthening laboratory systems capacity and blood safety programs in Kenya.

Responsibilities include:
  • facilitating CDC Division of Global HIV/AIDS (DGHA) technical support for strengthening blood and medical injection safety programs and diagnostic capacity for HIV;
  • establishing and expanding internal and external laboratory quality assurance programs;
  • improving laboratory reporting systems and, laboratory training programs;
  • monitoring and evaluating the progress of meeting national and IP laboratory program goals and objectives.
  • The incumbent participates in identifying training needs for the assigned IPs and national program; and facilitates national and IP training programs with full assessment of the effectiveness of laboratory training activities.
  • He/She may also serve as a formal instructor in laboratory training courses.
  • In addition he/she will serve as the Technical Activity Manager for several cooperative agreements as assigned that support the strengthening of laboratory systems and improving blood safety programs in Kenya.
  • In this role, the Technical Advisor monitors and evaluates laboratory support for HIV/AIDS activities supported by CDC-DGHA and recommends improvements, as needed.
  • The incumbent provides advice and technical assistance to the MOH and other USG partners in the development of HIV laboratory standard operating guidelines and the assist with operationalizing the national roadmap for upgrading laboratory services to ensure that laboratory aspects of service delivery meet minimum international standards for best practices as defined by CDC and the World Health Organization (WHO).
  • Finally, the incumbent serves on the PEPFAR interagency technical working group for laboratory activities and acts as a key contributor to the planning, development, and review of the blood safety and laboratory components of the annual Country Operational Plan (COP) for Kenya
Requirements:

Education:
  • Master’s degree in Laboratory sciences and/or epidemiology from a recognized
  • University/Institution is required.
  • Must be registered with relevant professional body such as Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician and Technologist Board (KMLTTB), Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (MP&DB) or other.
  • 7 years experience in laboratory practice including as a laboratory manager for a period of not less than 3 years is required.
  • Level IV (fluent) English and Level IV (fluent) Kiswahili are required.
  • Must have competency in supply chain management and laboratory inventory system for supplies and reagents;
  • Experience in working with the Ministry of Health’s Public Health Laboratory Services and experience in molecular diagnostic techniques, ART monitoring tests and basic clinical techniques.

The PH Specialist (MCH/PMTCT) supervises Maternal Child Health (MCH) / Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) and HIV/AIDS treatment and care /TB work for the CDC Division of Global HIV/AIDS (DGHA) Kenya and its implementing partners at selected service delivery and study sites in Kenya.

Incumbent will be the primary contact for MCH/PMTCT activities for CDC DGHA Kenya.

He/She will contribute to local, provincial and national levels regarding MCH/PMTCT, pediatric care and treatment activities, curriculum development and trainings.

Responsibilities are in two broad areas:
  • Implementing/supporting HIV treament and care/MCH/PMTCT activities, and working with implementing partners in Kenya.
  • Providing technical support to the National AIDS and STI Control Program (NASCOP) and Division of Family Health within Ministry of Health’s MCH/PMTCT program activities to ensure MCH/PMTCT activities are based on the latest relevant science, and that scientific knowledge is translated into program guidelines and practices for MCH/PMTCT including ARV use.
General responsibilities of the position are to ensure that all activities contribute to the achievement of CDC and DGHA-Kenya goals

Requirements:
  • Medical qualification (United States MD or equivalent) and Resident training in Obstetrics and Gynecology is required. (1). Medical and Public Health: - At least 3 years of specialist experience in the clinical management of HIV/AIDS is required, which must include experience with the use of Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy (HAART) and OI prophylaxis.
  • International Experience:
  1. At least 3 years of medical and public health experience in developing countries is required, with an emphasis on HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections, or reproductive health.
  2. Level IV (fluent) English ability is required.
  3. Level IV (fluent) Kiswahili also required.
  4. Must have technical knowledge of clinical medicine, epidemiology, and public health relevant to the African setting.
  5. Must have demonstrated ability to guide, motivate and lead a large and technically and culturally diverse staff at assigned program sites in conducting complex programs; plan, coordinate, and prioritize complex interventions in HIV/AIDS care and prevention.
  6. Must have strong computer skills and be able to produce high-quality written reports and effectively use spreadsheets, database software packages.
