Water Superintendant.
 
Duties And Responsibilities.
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance and extension of water distribution and sewer network ensuring right numbers of staffs are deployed, economic use of available resources and tools, deal with logistics of the operation, coordination efforts of different units.
  • Ensure the availability and efficient utilization of resources under your charge.
  • Ensure that connections are done in compliance with internal and external regulations and legislation in order to avoid any conflicts, ensure water reaching the customer is of required standard and effluent discharged into the river from the treatment works meets required standard.
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget for the department.
  • Inspect consumer installations and supervise their connection to main water supply and main sewers including identifying the main to be connected to, advising on the most economic connection procedure, inspecting the standard of work surveying of routes and taking levels for new extension of water and sewer lines..
  • Ensure timely and economic repairs of leakages or breakdown in water supply system, unblocking of sewer system and ensure manholes and trenches are covered.
Qualification, Experience and Other Competences
  • Degree in water or civil engineering.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Good appreciation of ICT systems.
  • Self driven individual who is diligent, honest and disciplined and responsible
  • Demonstrate good leadership and strong management skills with ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • A minimum of at least 3years working experience is required in the relevant position.
Terms of employment: 3years contract renewable ICT Officer.

Duties and Responsibilities.
  • Provide IT related support, and based on a review of IT status, needs, and management in the office, draft information management plan, including computerization, telecommunication, radio communication and records management.
  • Coordinate the introduction and technical operation of organizational computer applications.
  • Manage the development of the company’s ICT capacity.
Qualifications, Experience And Other Competencies.
  • Should have at least a degree in information Communication Technology/computer science.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and presentation skills particularly with database management.
  • Software and hardware skills pertaining to web services applications are required.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of hardware, knowledge of GIS software, web server administration will be preferred.
  • Able to work independently and effectively under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • Should have reasonable experience in managing integrated systems.
Procurement Officer
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective stock control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Public Procurement Act 2005 and Regulations of Public Procurement Act of 2006 and any other regulation and directives that may be made by the government from time to time on procurement issues.
  • Maintain an updated list of qualified and approved suppliers, contractors and consultants.
  • Ensure sound management of stores and monitor levels of items to maintain minimum reorder levels.
  • Receive tender documents, analyze and prepare reports for tender committee for discussions and approval.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods ordered to the store and maintain accurate records of procurement.
  • Prepare annual procurement plans.

Audit Clerk
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in appraising and reviewing the soundness and efficiency of all systems of controls including financial, operational and internal control systems and procedures.
  • Assist in preparation of annual audit programme and ensure that it is effectively carried out.
  • Periodically review of suitability, reliability and use of management information produced within the organization.
  • Carry out an evaluation of any possible business risks and systems of controls to provide value added and recommendation improvements.
  • Document and forward to the supervisor outcomes of audit activities, provide timely report and follow through to ensure that recommendations are considered and implemented in a timely manner.
  • Assist in carrying out special audits and investigations as may be required from time to time and submit report of finding to the Managing Director.

Electrician
 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Diagnose cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of operational equipment.
  • Tests electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.
  • Repair or replace wiring equipment and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
  • inspect electrical systems, equipments and components to identify hazards, defects and need for adjustments or repair to ensure compliance with the codes.

The Program Intern will work closely with and reports to Program Manager with the following specific duties:

Youth Education Pack (YEP) Background
 

Youth Education Pack (YEP) is a project of the Norwegian Refugee Council. Its main objective is to ensure that youth are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to become financially independent, improve their livelihoods and enable them to become productive members of their communities.
 

YEP is a non-formal education project for refugees and Kenyans in the Dadaab area aged 15 to 24, which combines literacy and numeracy skills, life skills with vocational skills training. 

 

The vocational curriculum followed is that of the Directorate of Industrial Training and the learners do Artisan Grade 3 examinations at the end of the course. 

 

These posts are for Vocational Skills teachers / trainers. 

 

The training period is for one year and is full time, five days a week.

Back-ground information
 

NRC proposes to respond to the substantial need of Education in Dadaab by providing catch up courses through an Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) to out-of-school children and youth in Dadaab Refugee camps. 

 

ALP is a formal programme which uses a condensed curriculum combined with life skills to enable learners get back to school after dropping out or to enable over age children to catch-up with their appropriate class. 

 

The project is implemented in accordance with the National and international education policies.
 

Main Responsibilities.

  1. To teach all subjects to primary learners (normally slightly over-age) in alternative education classes (accelerated, catch-up)with the aim of them entering or returning to normal school to take the KCPE.
  2. To serve as a model
  3. To conduct on-the-job teacher training and mentoring of inexperienced teachers.
  4. To assist from the beginning in the evolution of the programme

Qualifications, Skills & Experience required:
 

Essential

  • Be a Kenya citizen
  • Have ten years of teaching experience in Primary School
  • Hold P1 Certificate/Education or recognised two-year Diploma in two of the following subjects: English, Kiswahili, Somali, Science, Mathematics, Social Studies or Islamic or Christian Religious Education. (Note the selected candidates will cover all teaching subjects apart from language and religious studies).
  • High level of personal integrity, cultural awareness & sensitivity.
  • High standard of English methodology including oral skills and teaching English to speakers of other languages.

Desirable

  • Experience in mentoring.
  • Expressing creativity and innovation in teaching.
  • Having simple individual counselling and conflict resolution skills
  • Have knowledge and experience in some of the following topics: accelerated learning programs, trauma in children, children with special needs, child protection
  • Keen in ensuring accuracy and precision in all his/her works with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work and live in a generally insecure and harsh environment
