IT Job, Admin, Quantity Surveyor, Electrical Engineer Jobs at Danish Refugee Council

The Danish Refugee Council has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa region since 1997.

The DRC Kenya Program seeks to fill the following positions:

1. Electrical Engineer

Based in Dadaab Refugee Camp

Responsible for the design, development and maintenance of electrical systems and components on all site constructions done by DRC.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills Required:

• Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related field from a recognized institution
• At least 3 years experience in preparation of electrical drawings and bills of quantities
• Experience in electrical fitting installation in commercial and residential buildings, wiring, testing and repair
• Excellent communication skills, and fluent in spoken English and Kiswahili
• Team player with proven commitment to accountability practices
• Stable and robust character with proven ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Previous experience working in the Dadaab region or similar challenging environments is preferred

2. Quantity Survey Assistant

Based in Dadaab Refugee Camp

Responsible for the management of costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures.

Qualification, Experience & Skills Required

• Higher National Diploma in Quantity Survey
• Basic Diploma in Building Construction or Civil Engineering
• At least 3 years experience working in a quantity survey firm
• Previous experience in preparation of bills of quantities
• Conversant with all aspects of quantity survey practices and procedures
• Good command of computer programs and applications including WINQS
• Decisive individual with ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Possess excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Previous experience working in the Dadaab region or similar challenging environments is preferred

3. Administration Officer

Based in Dadaab Refugee Camp

Responsible for the planning, coordination, supervision and implementation of all administrative functions for project support in the Dadaab camp.

Qualification, Experience & Skills Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from a recognized institution
• Minimum 3-5 years management experience at senior level in refugee or related fields
• Possess excellent financial and personnel management skills
• Fully proficient in Ms Word and Excel spreadsheets
• Ability to establish and implement sustainable office systems
• Knowledgeable on security systems and procedures
• Strong planning, organization and problem solving skills
• Strong communication (written & spoken) and interpersonal skills

4. IT Officer

Based in Dadaab Refugee Camp

Provide technical support and be the main point of contact for IT related issues in the Dadaab Office

Qualifications, Experience & Skills Required:

• Degree in IT or related field from a recognized institution
• At least 2 years experience working in an IT support environment
• Experience of working with networked computing systems/windows TCP/IT networking experience
• Knowledge of and competence in Microsoft operating system and office suite
• High level of hardware trouble shooting experience
• Quick in learning new systems
• Demonstrate a customer-focused, motivated and pro-active approach to work
• Excellent communication skills, and fluent in spoken English and Kiswahili

Please note that all the above positions are on a 5-month contract with possibility of extension.
