The Aga Khan Health Service, Kenya runs two secondary care level hospitals in Mombasa and Kisumu.The Hospitals are acknowledged for quality healthcare services.
They have achieved ISO accreditation and also moving towards internationally recognised clinical standards of quality and excellence.
Aga Khan Hospital Mombasa is looking for the following seasoned professionals who will be leaders in ensuring continuity of existing Clinical programs and work with the larger AKH System in developing specific clinical improvement programs.
1. Medical Director
The incumbent will report to the Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital for a wide variety of key issues relating to operations of the clinical departments at AKM and will cooperate with the Dean, on academic matters at Aga Khan University Hospital Nairobi.
As a senior member of the management and a lead person of the Medical Executive Committee, the incumbent will be involved in strategic decision making in the institution’s overall organizational development.
At operational level the Medical Director will be responsible for all medical personnel are properly credentialed implementation of medical by laws, work force planning and development.
Minimum Requirements:
Candidates must have post-graduate qualifications in healthcare management with extensive managerial and clinical experience at senior level including a teaching hospital. S/He must possess strong interpersonal skills. Previous experience in a leadership role is essential.
2. Nursing Director
The holder of this position will provide leadership in integrated clinical care through improvement of Nursing Standards and infrastructure leading to international accreditation.
The Nursing Director will plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of the Nursing Services Department to ensure the highest degree of quality care.
The incumbent will be involved in institutional strategic planning and decision making by participating in the development of goals, policies, quality management, and budget. In collaboration with the Medical Director, AKHM, identify, monitor and track the hospitals’ Key clinical indicators and prepare reports to the board.
The person will ensure effective motivation, training and development of nursing staff.
Minimum Requirements
· The applicant should be a holder BSN. An MSc Nursing degree is preferred.
· The applicant must be Licensed and Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya. A post-graduate training in management will be an added advantage.
· At least 5 years in Clinical Nursing and Extensive Managerial and Leadership experience at a senior level including 2 years as a Nursing Director or similar position.
· Must have effective interpersonal skills, demonstrated leadership and administrative abilities and adaptability are required.
· S/He must be familiar with Nursing Council Requirements and other legal requirements as they affect the nursing services
3. Hospital Quality Assurance Coordinator
The position holder will report to the Medical Director of the Hospital. His/her main role will be to manage Hospital Quality Improvement programs, amongst others, implementation of ISO 15189 standards, and JCIA.
The incumbent will coordinate periodic compliance audits, both internal and external, and will be responsible for compiling progress reports on the various programs.
Minimum Requirements:
The position holder will report to the Medical Director of the Hospital. His/her main role will be to manage Hospital Quality Improvement programs, amongst others, implementation of ISO 15189 standards, and JCIA.
The incumbent will coordinate periodic compliance audits, both internal and external, and will be responsible for compiling progress reports on the various programs.
Minimum Requirements:
· A higher diploma or degree in medical or health related field from a recognized institution.
· Registration/ Licensure with appropriate regulatory body is a requirement.
· Should have actively worked in a hospital quality assurance department.
· He/she must have evidence of formal training in Quality Management and Quality Control.
· Experience with ISO, JCIA and other quality improvement programs will be an added advantage.
· Ability to train others.
