The University of Washington (UW) is proud to be one of America’s premier educational and research institutions. The UW has been conducting medical research and program activities in Kenya for over 25 years.
As part of this endeavor, the Treatment, Research and Expert Education (TREE) program has contributed to HIV medical research has developed HIV treatment, prevention and management capacity through training, clinical mentorship, and webcast distance learning lectures.
The purpose of TREE is to develop and share academic medical expertise that will improve the quality and management of HIV care in Kenya.
TREE has an outstanding opportunity for a Physician Mentor and Data Manager
Physician Mentor
The physician mentor will mentor and train clinicians in HIV/AIDS care
Specific duties
· Prepare, research and
deliver expert lectures in HIV and infectious diseases medicine
· Mentor clinicians on
HIV care and management in a clinic setting
· Conduct case
conferences, lead question and answer sessions and help clinicians analyze
scientific articles
· Design and implement
an educational curriculum for clinical officers
· Diagnose, treat and
care for HIV patients
· Develop and update
medical protocols, guidelines and algorithms and academic resources for
learning, teaching and practice
· Lead and manage
distance HIV learning activities
Qualifications
· A degree in Medicine
(Internal Medicine. MMed preferred)
· Registration with the
Medical and Dentists Practioners Board
· At least 3 years
demonstrable experience treating HIV patients, teaching HIV clinical skills and
mentoring doctors in AIDS care and treatment
· Outstanding knowledge
and skills in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases and HIVIAIDS
· Very strong writing,
computer and interpersonal skills
Data Manager
The data manager will confirm data quality, analyze results and generate reports
Specific duties
The data manager will confirm data quality, analyze results and generate reports
Specific duties
· Design and modify
protocols, standard operating procedures and data collection forms
· Design databases and
manage SPSS and Access databases
· Check and correct
data errors
· Present weekly and
monthly reports of data analysis
· Train staff on data
collection, cleaning and analysis
Qualifications
· A degree in
Biostatistics (Masters degree preferred)
· At least 2 years
working experience in data management
· Computer mastery in
word processing, statistical software and MS Excel spreadsheets
· Advanced skills in at
least two of the following programs: SPSS, Epi Info, Stata, MS Access and SAS
