Job: Field Investigator
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
International Justice Mission is seeking an experienced criminal investigator to investigate cases of sexual abuse, illegal detention and abuse of power to bring rescue and relief to the most vulnerable in society, while providing a safe and secure environment for our clients and staff.
The Field Investigator will be based in Nairobi, Kenya and will report to the Director of Investigations.

International Justice Mission is seeking an experienced criminal investigator to investigate cases of sexual abuse, illegal detention and abuse of power to bring rescue and relief to the most vulnerable in society, while providing a safe and secure environment for our clients and staff.
The Field Investigator will be based in Nairobi, Kenya and will report to the Director of Investigations.
Responsibilities
- Investigate all cases of sexual abuse, illegal detention, and abuse of power;
- Manage information networks to build cases against perpetrators;
- Assist the police to conduct thorough crime scene analysis and the apprehension and/or prosecution of perpetrators;
- Prepare IJM clients and staff for police interviews and other inquiries;
- Liaise with law enforcement agencies regarding crime trends, criminal activities, security and safety issues that may pose a threat to IJM assets, staff or clients;
- Maintain detailed activity logs and prepare reports of cases and incidents investigated;
- Maintain up to date written and electronic records on all case files and related materials;
- Carry out other additional assignments given by the Director of Investigations and/or the Field Office Director.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience conducting criminal investigations, with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), including undercover and/or special operations assignments;
- Proven ability to develop and conduct investigations of criminal activity;
- Completion of a basic investigation course from CID training school;
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
- Must possess a valid certificate of good conduct from the Criminal Registration Bureau;
- A competent driver with a valid driver’s license; and
- Service (volunteer or otherwise) with churches or Christian fellowships in Kenya.
