Who we are
Oxfam’s Kenya Programme is a
complex programme that incorporates both rapid and slow onset emergencies as
well as longer term development and policy work.
Oxfam Kenya applies a one programme approach which means it has multiple
activities that support a holistic approach to humanitarian, development and
advocacy for long lasting change in poverty reduction.
Oxfam in Kenya works principally in Turkana, Dadaab and Wajir, the Nairobi
informal settlements and on national level advocacy and coordination issues in
multi stakeholder fora.
This post will work closely with the Country Funding Coordinator and manage
established relationships with donors; To support programme staff and partners
with contract management in order to maintain and grow levels of funding within
the Kenya programme.
We require a highly experienced Funding Officer for Oxfam GB Kenya Programme to
deliver successfully on the country strategy.
The Role
This role will work with the Country Funding Coordinator to strengthen
relationships with key donors by building restricted fund-management capacity
within programme teams and inducting new staff on funding issues.
In consultation with the Country Funding Coordinator, the post holder will make
regular country programme visits, particularly to support on contract
management related issues.
He/she will capacity build all staff on donor requirements.
He/she will ensure high quality contract management including submission of
timely and quality reports and amendments to maximise income from our donors
and achieve country income targets in close collaboration with programme and
finance teams.
The post holder will actively support in development, coordination and
effective communication on ways of working for all fundraising issues between
the Kenya Programme and the Regional Centre funding team.
The role conducts partner assessment and provides quality check on all
financial reports reviewed by the finance partner officer to ensure they comply
with donor requirements.
You will provide support and advise to the programme team on the analysis of
partner budget proposals in the interpretation of financial reports from the
partners.
Person specification
To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience in funding
management, finance and donor contract management.
Proven experience in funding management and/or coordination in an international
non-governmental organisation is essential.
You will be required to have a good understanding of the cultural and political
context of the country and region.
Experience of management/supervisory responsibilities, including good training
and coaching skills and a willingness to support development of others is
essential.
He/she will have a good understanding of Oxfam’s fundraising and contract
management systems and procedures.
You will be self-motivated, target driven and an entrepreneurial approach to exploiting
fundraising opportunities.
You will be required to have excellent communication and team working skills.
