APHIAplus
KAMILI is a five year (2011-2015) health service delivery project funded by the
U.S Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented in Eastern and
Central provinces of Kenya by a consortium of partners led by Jhpiego, an
affiliate of the Johns Hopkins University.
The
other partners are AMREF, CHAK, ICAP, KRC, Land O’ Lakes, LVCT, NOPE, and
PATH.
The
project contributes to the USAID strategic goal of ‘Sustained improvement of
health and well-being for all Kenyans’ by increasing the use of quality health
services, products and information and addressing social determinants of health
to improve the well-being of marginalized, poor and underserved populations.
APHIAplus KAMILI is currently seeking for a Chief of Party with excellent leadership and technical skills, with proven track record, who is a team player, dedicated, hardworking, innovative, highly motivated and willing to inspire others and to work in a high pressure environment requiring multitasking abilities.

Location: Nairobi Office (with frequent travel to the field)
Responsibilities
- Lead
APHIAplus KAMILI strategy formulation including development of roles and
responsibilities of various partners
- Provide
overall leadership and technical guidance for the program
- Provide
overall guidance and direction for the project and supervision of field
offices, staff and overall management of the project
- Serve
as Jhpiego’s key liaison with USAID, government counterparts, implementing
partners and other local organizations
- Ensure
overall program, financial and monitoring objectives for the project are
achieved, including implementation of annual work plans, dissemination of
results and sharing of best practices
- Work
closely with partners and program teams to ensure quality evidence-based
implementation of the project
- Review
and/or contribute to reports and other project deliverables (e.g. annual,
semi-annual, performance monitoring reports, etc.)
Qualifications
- MD
or PhD (with a graduate degree in Public Health or related field)
- Ten
or more years at leadership level
- Extensive
knowledge of HIV/AIDS health programs and health service delivery in Kenya
- Must
also be familiar with other health areas such as RH/FP, TB and MNCH
- Excellent
analytical, oral and report- writing skills
- Experience
in managing a collaboration of partners and work in a team-oriented
setting
- Experience
working with MOH systems and personnel
- Experience
working on USAID-funded projects is an asset
- Ability
to communicate effectively, instilling trust and confidence
- Computer
literacy, particularly in the use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
