Leading Trading Company requires a suitably qualified and experienced
individual to fill up the following position:
Senior Logistics Manager
The position requires a dynamic and energetic candidate prepared to take on a challenging job in the Logistics field.
The ideal person must have a good understanding of shipping schedules (All major Ports).
In
addition, the person must be a team player with sound leadership &
effective communication skills.
Professional Experience
The suitable candidate should be competent in the following;
- Comprehensive
understanding of Contract Law and Standard Transport Terms and Conditions.
- Planning
and Supply Chain management experience.
- Excellent
of knowledge of Excel and related specialist logistics software.
- Ability
to manage a number of projects and initiatives simultaneously.
- Knowledge
of importing/Exporting and forwarding.
- Proficient
with SAP and ERP systems.
- Extensive
knowledge of the freight and transport industries.
- Effective
time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
Job
Responsibilities
- Complete
and maintain all record keeping of domestic and international
transportation documentation for export/import activity.
- Establish
operational procedures to verify incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Prepare
export documentation for the international movement of goods, (e.g.
commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, SLIs) to meet export
documentation requirements
- Driving
and Coordinating operations activities to achieve operation excellence
- Train
shipping department personnel in roles or responsibilities regarding
global logistics strategies
- Resolve
problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports,
or customer issues
- Plan
or implement improvements to internal or external logistics systems or
processes
- Collaborate
with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or
processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or
shipping
- Analyze
the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing,
shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers
- Identifying
& delivering operational cost reduction and cost avoidance initiatives
- Negotiating
the services of 3rd party carriers, couriers and haulage companies.
- Supporting
other departments within the company
- Understanding
of the Inco terms and export/import regulations
Minimum
Requirements
- Bachelor’s
degree in Logistics, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management,
Purchasing, Operations Management, or International Trade
- 8-10
years of export/import compliance experience
- Excellent
organizational and managerial skills
- Excellent
communication skills – written, oral, reading and understanding of both
Kiswahili and English Language. Knowledge of a foreign language will be an
added advantage.
