Provision of External Audit and Tax Systems Services

ActionAid International Kenya (AAIK) is among the leading anti-poverty agencies working directly with over one million people in Kenya. It focuses on tackling the root causes of poverty through Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA). 

The organisation supports projects and programmes that promote the interests of poor and excluded people at all levels in Kenya.
 

Currently AAIK operates in 16 Local Rights Programmes (LRPs) in 15 counties namely Migori, Siaya, Tana River, Kilifi, Kakamega, West Pokot, Baringo, Isiolo, Embu, Kajiado, Garissa, Bungoma, Kitui, Taita Taveta and Homabay and also works at national and international levels.
 

ActionAid International Kenya seeks the services of an audit firm to provide external audit services for the year 2013.
 

The broad objectives of the external audit services are as follows:
 

1. To carry out a financial audit as per International Auditing Standards and express an opinion whether the financial statements prepared by the National Board give a true and fair view of state of financial affairs of the organization in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
 

2. To evaluate the effectiveness of financial, management and governance, programmatic and administrative systems, controls and structures of the organization;
 

3. To review the effectiveness of AAIK’s risk management systems and processes;
 

4. To review AAIK’s compliance with both internal and external policies and review compliance with the laws of the Kenya;
 

5. To review the effectiveness of management of donor funded projects in the organization
 

6. To carry out an assessment of the organizational tax compliance, that is, compliance with income tax, VAT and withholding tax requirements.
